    • A dispensing closure characterized by a cap base member adapted to be associated with a container, and a cap lid member mounted on the cap base member for rotation with respect to the cap base member. The cap lid member is adapted to assume a closed position, wherein it closes off a first dispensing opening formed in the cap base member, and is intended to be rotated upwardly with respect to the cap base member from the closed position to an open position wherein the first dispensing is uncovered. A second dispensing opening is formed in the cap lid member, overlying the first dispensing opening when the cap lid member is in the closed position. The second dispensing opening is normally closed off and sealed by means of a spout member which is rotatably mounted on the cap lid member. The spout member is adapted to be rotated from the latter closed position to an open position wherein a longitudinal passage in the spout member is aligned with the second dispensing opening. When the cap lid member is in the closed position, thereby closing off the first dispensing opening, the contents of the container are able to be dispensed through the aligned longitudinal passage and second dispensing opening corresponding to the open position for the spout member.

    • It is known to manufacture closure structures so that each of such structures has a cap part including two spaced, aligned bearings and a movable part extending between the bearings and including trunnions fitting within the bearings. At least one of the parts of such closure structures is formed of a material which is sufficiently resilient so that the trunnions may be snapped into the bearings during the assembly of the closure structure. Such a closure structure may be improved so as to reduce damage to one or both of the parts during the manufacture of such a closure structure by shaping the trunnions and the bearings so that they both have shapes of surfaces of revolution which decrease in diameter in accordance with the distance from the portion of the movable part fitting within and between the spaced bearings. The entrances employed should also decrease in width in a corresponding manner.

    • A dispensing type container closure having a lid pivotally mounted on the closure so as to be capable of being moved between a closed position in which the lid closes off an opening through the top of the container and an open position in which this opening is uncovered can be made child resistant in character by including a recess in the top of the closure into which the lid is adapted to fit so that in the closed position the lid cannot be manually engaged to be rotated from the closed position. A fulcrum is provided within the recess and the lid is made so that when the lid is in the closed position pressure can be applied to the lid in order to pivot or move a portion of the lid remote from where the lid is hinged on the closure to a sufficient extent so that this portion of the lid can be manually engaged and moved from the closed position. Preferably a toggle structure is employed to connect the lid and the closure so as to hold the lid in either the closed or the open position. A part of this toggle structure is employed to increase the flexibility of the lid so as to facilitate pressure being applied to move the lid from the closed position.

    • A closure body has a closure deck with a dispensing orifice. A lower peripheral skirt depends from the closure deck and is configured to be mounted on a container. A closure cap has an upper wall and a wall flange which depends from the upper wall. A hinge structure joins the wall flange to the lower peripheral skirt. A latch recess is defined within the lower peripheral skirt. A latch protrusion is located on the wall flange of the cap and positioned respectively positioned above the latch recess when closure cap is in a closed position. The latch protrusion and the latch recess define interfitting mating formations which engage to secure the cap to the closure body when the closure cap is in an open position.

    • A dispensing closure for a container comprising a closure body adapted to be mounted on the container. The closure body has a dispensing orifice and a sealing cap. A pair of adjacently spaced living hinges connect the sealing cap to the closure body for movement between an open and a closed position. The closure body and sealing cap have sealing elements that provide a complete peripheral seal between the sealing cap and the closure body when in the closed position. The sealing cap has a camming lug located between the living hinges, and contacting the sealing elements on the closure body without impairing the integrity of the sealing elements, and further provides a snap-action to the movement of the sealing cap from the open to the closed position.

    • A two piece, molded plastic dispenser, that functions with a push-pull motion, comprising an outer shell and an inner shell. The outer shell comprises a top wall with an aperture defined at its center, and a skirt of generally cylindrical shape. A plug seal extends below the top wall, and annular groove and bead are formed in the vicinity of the upper end of the inner surface of the skirt and the underside of the top wall. The inner shell comprises a top wall, a tapered spud extending upwardly from the top wall, an annular barrier encircling the spud, and a depending skirt. Detents and arcuate wall segments extend, in interspersed fashion, about the perimeter of the upper shell, and cooperate with the bead on the outer shell. Vertical ribs on the inner surface of the outer shell cooperate with serrations on the exterior surface of the inner shell to guide the relative movement of the outer shell, in a vertical direction, while preventing relative rotation between the shells. The contents of the container are discharged through apertures in the inner shell proximate to the spud to flow through the aperture in the outer shell. The plug seal and annular barrier, and the spud and aperture, are fully engaged, when the dispenser is closed, to provide leak-proof operation. The arcuate walls segments extend vertically above the detents to protect same, and the underside of the annular bead abuts a shoulder on each wall segment when the dispenser is closed.
