摘要： A self-tapping sleeve for providing a ceiling junction for a suspended lighting fixture has a cylindrical body, a center passageway for containing the junction, a thread structure on the perimeter surface of the cylindrical body, and two perimeter cutting elements at the top end of the cylindrical body for producing a circular cutting action in front of the sleeve when the sleeve is rotated in and advance rotation. A trim ring is additionally provided at the bottom end of the body to trim out the ceiling junction when the sleeve is installed. A key-shaped portion of the center passageway receives the key-shaped end of a drive tool used to install the sleeve.

摘要： A luminaire, such as an indirect linear luminaire, is provided with a floating reflector assembly tied directly to securement points in the luminaire housing. The reflector assembly has a reflector element with tie down openings which overlay the reflector securement points and compliant spring-like retaining clips which overlap the tie down openings and which are secured at their center portion to the underlying securement points by a screw fastener. The width of the retaining clips are narrower than the tie down opening such that the center portion of the retaining clips can be drawn into and contact the housing securement points to provide good electrical grounding. The pressure contact of the retaining clips holds the reflector down yet permits it to float within the housing when the housing is distorted, such as by twisting, thereby avoiding distortion of the reflector.

摘要： A ballast holder which can be fabricated from a single piece of bent sheet metal material, includes a gusseted riser structure, a base portion extending rearwardly from the foot of the riser structure, and a top flange portion extending in a forwardly direction from the top end of the riser structure for securing one of the mounting flanges of a ballast. The height of the rigid riser structure is chosen to be at least as great as the maximum height of a standard ballast to be held thereby. The ballast holder is used to install a ballast in an inverted position within a lighting fixture housing and can accommodate different sized ballasts. The ballast holder also reduces the amount of structure between the ballast and the overlying reflector element of the lighting fixture and thereby reduces the tendency of the ballast holding structure to bow or distort the lighting fixture's reflector where space is limited.
