    • A trigger sprayer has a housing, a piston bore within the housing, and a piston reciprocally mounted within the piston bore. The housing further includes a flow passage through which liquid passes from a passage inlet to a passage outlet. An actuator is operable to reciprocate the piston within the piston bore between a vacuum stroke creating reduced pressure in the piston bore and a compression stroke creating increased pressure in the piston bore. A valve assembly within the flow passage controls the flow of liquid through the flow passage upon operation of the actuator. The valve assembly further comprises a check valve and a priming valve. The sprayer has a closure for mounting the sprayer to a container. The valve seat for the check valve is in a component formed separately from and operatively connected to the housing.

    • According to certain embodiments of the invention, a valve guide or raised boss may be connected to or integral with a base or body of an aerosol actuator. In various embodiments, a valve guide may include a raised boss associated with a grip or body of an aerosol actuator. The valve guide or raised boss may align a manifold with a valve when an aerosol actuator is assembled to a container containing a product. In addition, a valve guide or raised boss may limit the movement of a portion of a manifold in a defined direction or defined plane such that the load on a valve by a manifold is controlled. For example, a valve guide may ensure a top load on a valve during actuation or may minimize side loads on a valve during actuation.

    • A noncontainer pressurizing pump sprayer includes a body, which defines a chamber. A piston is positioned within the container and is coupled to a shaft. The piston divides the chamber into an upper section and a lower section. An inlet valve is positioned on the body and permits flow of fluid into the lower section but restricts flow out of the lower section. The shaft of the piston is coupled to a handle. A spray nozzle includes an actuator that is coupled to a control valve and a discharge outlet that is in fluid communication with the lower section of the chamber. In one embodiment, a tube extends continuously from a point upstream of the control valve to a point downstream of the control valve. In another embodiment, a tube is coupled to the piston and extends through the handle. In another embodiment, the tube extends continuously from the spray nozzle and is coupled to the piston.

    • A manual pump dispenser includes a plunger head reciprocable between pressure and return strokes, and a pump body having an inlet valve for inletting of liquid product during each of the return strokes. A discharge valve assembly is fitted to a spout for permitting selective outletting of liquid product through the spout during each of the pressure strokes. The spout includes a bore having a predetermined diameter, with a unitary valve disposed substantially within the bore. The unitary valve is made of a material for permitting predetermined axial, or axial and radial expansion thereof under pressure from liquid product during each of the pressure strokes for thereby allowing liquid product to be discharged through a slitted opening in the unitary valve, and enabling rapid contraction thereof against a valve seat to prevent liquid product from being discharged through the slitted opening.
