    • An apparatus and method for securely and releasably attaching load-bearing soft goods to a frame without requiring the use of tools for attachment and detachment is disclosed. A connection mechanism, or buckle, that is comprised of a first, male connector portion and a second, female connector portion is provided. The male connector, which is fixedly secured to the soft good, is releasably received within the female connector, which is fixedly secured to the frame, in order to releasably attach the soft good to the frame. The male connector contains a thin, rectangular attachment tab that provides for fixedly attaching the soft good to the male connector. The female connector is directly secured to the frame, such as by riveting. By fixedly securing one portion of the connection mechanism to the frame for mating with another portion, it is obvious to the user where the attachments of the soft good to the frame are to be made. The attached soft good can support the weight of a child occupant and can only be detached from the frame by applying a force that is directed to decoupling the buckle. Several buckles are disposed around the periphery of the soft good and the frame in order to adequately support the soft good.

    • A molded booster seat has an upper back portion and a lower seat portion connected to an integral hinge. The upper and lower portions are pivoted about the integral hinge toward each other to form a rigid body, and cooperate to form a plurality of mortise and tenon joints. The upper and lower portions are locked in the rigid body configuration by a pair of side plates and a pair of locking rods extending through the seat between the side plates. The booster seat also includes an adjustable belt positioner that is configured to move between a plurality of different adjustments. The upper and lower positions are located to accommodate the fall range of sizes of children of a child sitting in the booster seat.     • An apparatus and method for simulating the feeding of a variety of food types to a child's baby doll is disclosed. The apparatus includes a spoon and a food container. The food container is segmented into three compartments, each of which contains a different simulated food type. Within each compartment is a cam assembly for interaction with a cam follower that is disposed within a spindle that is rotatably mounted within the bowl of the spoon. The outer surface of the spindle is configured to also represent food, where the types of food represented on the spindle in the bowl of the spoon are the same food types that are simulated in the food container. When a child inserts the spoon into the food container, if the food displayed in the bowl of the spoon is not the same food type as that into which the spoon is inserted, the cam follower in the spindle interacts with the cam in the food container to rotate the spindle such that upon extraction of the spoon from the food container, the bowl of the spoon now appears to contain within it the same type of food as that into which it was inserted.

    • A gate has a first panel member coupled to a partially overlapping second panel member so that the panels are slidable laterally relative to each other, thus changing the overall width of the gate. An over-center type toggle linkage has a pivot link and a handle link and is operable to laterally expand and contract the lateral distance between the ends. One end of the handle link is pivotally connected to a sliding carriage that slides relative to the second panel and the carriage and handle link end are selectively engagable with the second panel by a releasable engagement mechanism. When the engagement mechanism is disengaged, the panels are free to slide laterally to change the width of the gate. When the engagement mechanism is engaged, operation of the toggle linkage expands or contracts the overall width of the gate. The engagement mechanism may include a slider coupled to a locking knob by a threaded coupling with the knob being located proximate to the pivot axis of the handle link and the carriage.
