摘要： A secondary air filter assembly that can be attached to the exhaust port of an upright vacuum cleaner is provided. The assembly includes an adapter plate that is adhered, clipped or otherwise affixed to the exhaust port, and a filter carrier that is removably attached to the base. The filter is preferably affixed as a unit to the filter carrier so that the entire filter/carrier unit can be replaced at once. The adapter base can also be used as an attachment for other accessories.

摘要： In accordance with the present invention, a handle and wand system for a vacuum cleaner is provided which includes an enclosed electrical system which may be used to provide electrical power to a powered floor nozzle or other powered nozzles. The handle and wand system of the present invention may be employed in either a canister vacuum or a central vacuum unit. In one embodiment, the system includes a handle and suction hose assembly which permits the hose, which includes conducting wires, to be freely rotated while attached to the handle. In another embodiment, means are provided for easily attaching, locking and detaching the components of the handle and wand system of the present invention while providing both a vacuum seal and a plurality of low resistance electrical contacts between the elements of the system of the present invention. In a further embodiment, a swivel elbow is provided to attach the handle and wand system of the present invention to a powered floor nozzle. In another embodiment, an interface is provided easily for attaching, locking and detaching the handle and wand system of the present invention to and from non-powered cleaning tools.

摘要： An improved wand for connecting a vacuum cleaner and power nozzle is disclosed. The wand includes a sheath, an upper wand assembly received in the sheath and detachably connected to the vacuum cleaner hose handle, and a lower wand assembly received in the sheath and releasably connected therein to the upper wand assembly. A resilient plug body is provided for attachment to the hose handle to be connected to the cord of the sheath. The plug body contains at least two electrical connectors separated by a slit to provide a limited degree of flexibility in the plug body to insure a good connection despite any possible minor misaligment with the opposing connectors on the cord. The upper end of the lower wand assembly has a leaf spring with a button on its underside protruding through a hole in the lower wand assembly to engage a similar hole in the upper wand assembly. The sheath has an axially slidable cam element for sliding under and raising the free end of the spring another version, the wand assemblies are connected by means of an omega spring in the upper assembly having a button protruding through holes in both assemblies. In this version, the sheath has a depressable release element having an S-spring on its underside to depress the omega spring and release the lower assembly.

摘要： In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an improved arrangement for and method of electrically testing a cord-set during the molding of the male plug and female receptacle to the opposite ends of the insulated electric cord. In order to accomplish this, the mold for forming the molded plug and receptacle is provided with suitable contacts which upon the closing of the mold automatically establish electrical connections between the terminals of the cord-set and circuits in testing apparatus. These tests consist of checking for continuity in each conductor and for shorts between conductors or terminals and a skin ground test for the purpose of detecting stray strands of wire or any current carrying object that would carry current to the outside surface of the molded plug or receptacle. For the latter test, the metal of the mold itself, which closely embraces the entire outer surfaces of the plug and receptacle, serves as the ground as it is in contact with any conducting particle which extends to the outer surface.
