摘要： A retainer and method of producing a retainer which cooperates with either a magnetic or non-magnetic surgical drape to hold instruments during surgical operations. A rectangular tray includes a wall which extends from the periphery of a base portion. The polypropylene base portion is thermally bonded to a thermoplastic rubber retainer to sandwich magnetic elements therebetween. The magnetic elements are magnetically attracted to a magnetic drape and thereby secure the retainer in any orientation with respect to the drape. The method including vacuum forming a thermoplastic shell over a tray configured mold to sandwich a magnetic element between the thermoplastic shell and a retainer.

摘要： A reusable, flexible surgical drape which is laid over a patient adjacent the surgical field and which retains surgical instruments thereon to facilitate access to the instruments. A plurality of magnets are embedded in the drape so as to retain magnetizable instruments placed on the drape by means of magnetic force. A non-magnetized portion is provided in the center of the drape for storage of non-magnetizable instruments. A plurality of filaments extend upwardly from the nonmagnetic portion and aid in retaining the instruments in place. To prevent instruments from falling off the drape, the periphery of the drape is deformable to a non-planar orientation. A reusable pouch in which additional instruments are stored is removably secured to the drape. Ribs are provided on the interior of the pouch to maintain the walls of the pouch in a spaced relationship, and perforations are provided through the walls to permit sterilization of the pouch in an autoclave.

A flush, lockable, sliding cover is provided on the container to close the disposal openings against passage of macroscopic material either partially during use or completely before disposal.

摘要： A surgical instrument holder and instrument tip protector device has a base of a non-skid sterilizable material for receiving a surgical instrument positioned thereon and a protective layer formed of a sterilizable resilient material and overlying at least a portion of the base to provide a resilient pouch of sterilizable material into which the tip end of a surgical instrument may be placed for preventing the instrument tip from puncturing a sterile container for the instrument, for preventing damage to the instrument tip, and for protecting a user against injury due to contact with the surgical instrument tip while handling the surgical instrument holder and instrument tip protector device. A plurality of devices in side-by-side integral relation having a protective flap for covering an end of surgical instruments positioned on the devices distal from the instrument tip facilitates an organized assembly of specific surgical instruments to be used in a specific surgical procedure to be prepared, sterlized, and stored for future use as a complete surgical kit. In an alternative embodiment tip protector, pouches are provided at either end of the device for receiving opposite ends of surgical instruments such as a glass syringe.

摘要： A safety catheter includes a pivoted cam and gripping wheel within a housing. As the catheter needle is withdrawn from the catheter the needle point is captured and locked within the housing, reducing the risk of needlestick injuries. When locked, the cam prevents the needle tip from being pushed out of the bottom of the housing, and the gripping wheel prevents the needle from being pulled out of the top of the housing. The sharp needle point is automatically covered and safely contained in the housing as it is withdrawn from the catheter.

摘要： A container lid for a medical storage-disposal container including a slide closure resistant to inadvertent movement from an open position into a fully closed and locked position. The container lid includes a top cover defining a disposal aperture and a laterally oriented depression. The slide closure contains a descending flange configured to engage the top cover depression and lock the slide closure in a fully closed position. An obstructing tab is pivotally coupled to the top cover and projects into the disposal aperture. The slide closure can only be moved into a fully closed and locked position if the obstructing tab is rotated into a non-obstructing orientation. The slide closure further includes protrusions on opposing lateral sides to require application of an affirmative force in order to displace the slide closure from a fully opened position. The slide enclosure further includes a plurality of straight sided apertures to facilitate removal of protective covers from hypodermic needles of varying size. The top cover further includes an aperture intersecting a tapering slot to facilitate removal of hypodermic needles of varying sizes from syringe bodies.
