    • An adaptor for the positioning of an electric timer which normally plugs directly into a wall socket and hangs in that position. The adaptor allows the timer to rest on a tabletop for easy access while maintaining the necessary electrical connection. The adaptor receives the plug of the wall timer and conforms to the configuration of the rear surface of the timer so that the two units engage to form a unitary type structure. The adaptor and timer can either lay flat on a table or other horizontal surface or be hung on a wall in an accessible location.

    • A modular telemetry cable system having first and second array terminals spaced apart a distance of D. A cable extends between the terminals having X number of analog signal transmission means which is connected to 2X transducer sets for gathering 2X analog signals. The analog signals are processed and transmitted as digital signals over a digital transmission means connected between the terminals. At the location in the cable of the two interior transducer sets, the cable is penetrated to connect the interior transducer sets to the same analog transmission means. The portion of the same analog transmissions means between the two interior sets is disconnected from the two interior sets. At the penetrations in the cable of the two interior sets, the other analog transmission means are cut. One transducer set on opposite sides of the cuts in the other transmission means are connected to each of the other analog transmission means. The cable includes only 2X penetrations in the cable for connecting the transducer sets and providing cuts.

    • A chromatography column for effecting chromatographic separation of at least two components of a sample flowing through the column. The column comprises a housing and at least one solid stationary phase within the housing. The stationary phase has chromatographic functionality and is effective for chromatographic separation. Means are provided for radially distributing the sample through the stationary phase and for collecting the sample after the sample has flowed through the stationary phase. The stationary phase comprises:(a) a swellable fibrous matrix in sheet form having chromatographic functionality and being effective for chromatographic separation, spirally wound around the longitudinal axis of the solid stationary phase to form a plurality of layers around the axis; and(b) a spacer means between each layer for permitting controlled swelling thereof and enhancing the distribution of sample flowing radially through the stationary phase.The solid stationary phase may be fabricated into a disposable cartridge for placement in the housing. A plurality of cartridges may be used either in series or parallel flow configuration in a single housing.

    • A timing mechanism for use in an appliance such as a domestic clothes dryer, for example. The mechanism includes a synchronous motor and two output shafts. One output shaft is the conventional rotary output shaft of the speed reducing gear train associated with the synchronous motor. The second output shaft is the rotary axle of a Geneva follower gear that is driven by a Geneva driver gear that is in turn driven by a gear located intermediate the input and first output shaft of the gear train. The intermittent rotation of the second output shaft, wherein each intermittent rotation is accomplished in a relatively rapid time, permits a timing cam thereon to control a switch actuator to provide a precise and quite brief switching action of the order of five seconds, for example.
