摘要： A female coupling component for a cam and groove coupling, consisting of a chamber mounted to or built into the exterior of the female coupling component, containing a latching member to be used as a safety lock when used in conjunction with a male coupling component. The latching member will interlock with a radial groove on a male coupling component. To unlock the female coupling component, an intentional movement including pushing, twisting, and/or pulling, etc. of the latching member is applied such a way as to allow the male component to be inserted or removed. The female cam and groove coupling will work on any like-sized male coupling component (i.e., 3″ female to 3″ male) without any modifications necessary to the male coupling required.

摘要： A cam lock fitting having a rotating female portion which may include a safety lock which prevents separation of the male and the female portions of the fitting to prevent inadvertent pressurized discharges. Rotation of the female portion is accomplished by placing a connecting collar on the rear of the female end portion so that the female portion rotates about the connecting collar. The safety lock mechanism operates by placing opposing notches in the end of the male portion so that when the cam levers are opened the male and female portions of the cam lock fitting initially only slightly separate allowing the operator to quickly reclose the cam lock fitting if it contains pressurized material. The rotating female portion easily aligns the cam lobes of the cam lever with the notches on the male coupling so that the male and female portions can be separated.

摘要： Method and apparatus for a safety lock assembly for a cam lock fitting mounted onto the outside of the cam lock fitting in close proximity to the cam levers to prevent complete separation of the male and the female portions of the fitting to prevent inadvertent pressurized discharge of dangerous materials. In one embodiment, this is accomplished by having slidable bosses upon which the cam levers are mounted which bosses are adapted to slide in response to movement of a safety handle so that the male and female portions of the cam lock fitting only slightly separate from each other allowing the operator to quickly reclose the cam lock fitting if the operator observes that the cam lock fitting still contains pressurized material. In a second embodiment, an earless cam disk moves on slotted, fixedly mounted bosses in response to movement of a safety handle similarly to the first embodiment.

摘要： A method and apparatus for an improved safety cam lock fitting having side by side double cam levers having outer and inner portions so that when the outer cam levers are opened and the inner cam lever remain closed, the male and female portions of the cam lock fitting only slightly separate from each other allowing the operator to quickly reclose the cam lock fitting if the operator observes that the cam lock fitting still contains pressurized material. This is accomplished by providing a larger cam lobe on the outer cam lever and a smaller cam lobe on the inner cam lever so that when the smaller cam lobe is in a closed position and protrudes into a peripheral groove on the male portion the male and female ends have a small space therein between. A lever latching mechanism may be used to prevent the cam levers from being inadvertently opened.

摘要： A cam and groove coupling joint has a male coupling having a substantially tubular body that includes a pair of grooves in the body and a female coupling having a substantially tubular body that includes two pairs of lugs on the body and further includes pins that are supported by each pair of lugs. A pair of cam arms are pivotally mounted to the pins between the lugs. The cam arms are movable between an open position in which the male coupling is free to move relative to the female coupling and a closed position in which a cam of each cam arm engages the groove to lock the male coupling inside the female coupling. A wire clip secures the cam arms in the closed position, the wire clip being movable between a secured position in which the wire clip secures the cam arm to prevent opening of the cam arm and an unsecured position in which the cam arm is free to be opened, wherein the wire clip has a first segment of wire extending through holes in the lugs such that the wire clip is able to slide orthogonally with respect to the cam arm while being permanently mounted to the female coupling and wherein the wire clip has a second segment substantially parallel to the first segment that is extendable over the cam arm to secure the cam arm.
