    • A stabilizing mechanism for a two part foldable hinged device having a cover and a base is disclosed and includes at least one elastic member having one end attached to the cover and a second opposite end attached to the base. The elastic member has a bending section defined between the ends which extends to increase the contact surface area of the base as the cover pivots open with respect to the base to keep the device from tipping over when the device is placed on a resting surface. The bending section is formed between two spaced apart knuckles whereby the elastic member bends with a controlled variable displacement to provide a greater rate of available contact surface as the cover and base pivot relative to one another, particularly between 90° and 180°. A portion of the second opposite end of the elastic member may extend beyond the downwardly facing surface of the base to make contact with the resting surface to prevent the device from sliding on the surface.

    • A hinge for an airbag flap in a motor vehicle. The hinge is formed of a knitted fabric which is connected in a form-fitting manner both to the airbag flap and to regions surrounding the airbag flap. The knitted fabric has a plurality of inlaid or standing yarns arranged at an angle of at least 15° in relation to the longitudinal extension of the hinge-side edge of the airbag flap. Furthermore, a method for manufacturing the hinge is provided where the knitted fabric is arranged in relation to the airbag flap and also the regions surrounding the airbag flap in such a manner that the inlaid or standing yarns are arranged at an angle of at least 15° in relation to the longitudinal extension of the hinge-side edge of the airbag flap. The knitted fabric and at least parts of both the airbag flap and the regions surrounding the airbag flap are sheathed with plastic material so as to form a form-fitting connection.

    • The present invention relates to an opening/closing hinge construction for an electronic and electrical equipment housing. By improving the hinge construction so that the hinge construction between a body case and body cover is contained within the housing, the housing is prevented from being large-sized and the assembling property is enhanced, whereby the whole manufacturing cost including the assembly cost is reduced. The construction is such as to open and close the body case forming an equipment housing by the body cover of cover member, and a hinge sheet having flexibility formed into a sheet form is used for a hinge connection portion. One end of the hinge sheet is fixed to the interior of the body case by using hinge bosses and set screws as a fixed locking end, and the other end is fixed to the inside of the body cover as a movable locking end. At the movable locking end, two elongated hinge variable adjusting grooves extending in the direction in which the movable locking end is connected to the fixed locking end in the body case are formed in parallel. The hinge sheet is locked at an arbitrary position in the hinge variable adjusting groove via a hinge fixing plate by means of set screws.

    • A resilient hinge arrangement has a first hinge part and a second hinge part that assumes a plurality of stable pivoting positions with respect to the first hinge part, with a dead center lying at least between two of the stable pivoting positions. Each of the two connecting arms is substantially stress free in an opened position and a closed position of the first hinge part relative to the second hinge part at a point at which the bending regions come closest to each other. Each coupling element is arranged to execute a maximum elastic relieving movement in a region of the dead center upon pivoting movement of the second hinge part with respect to the first hinge part between the two stable pivoting positions through the dead center.

    • A hinge (1) for locating between two members which are to be folded together and opened apart, comprises a pair of parallel trunnions (2,3) interconnected by spaced webs (4). Each trunnion has axially-spaced cylindrical portions (5) of larger diameter than coaxially-arranged intermediate cylindrical portions (6). The hinge is made of a stiffly resilient plastics material having self-lubricating properties and is mounted between the members with the trunnions located rotatably in respective moulded sockets in the respective members. The webs (4) pass through openings in the end faces of the members and permit them to move in their own planes as well as to rotate during their movement from folded-together positions, to the positions they occupy when they are opened apart. The hinge provides a tidy, clean appearance to the members where they are hinged together.
