    • In a tennis racket whose frame and handle shaft are integrally made of fiber reinforced plastics and the frame defines a strung surface, the frame is so designed that its first thickness "t" in a direction of the strung surface is substantially uniform around the circumference of the frame and its second thickness "T" in a direction perpendicular to the strung surface is gradually varied. The second thickness is maximum at side sections of the frame interposing a sweet spot in the strung surface and is minimum at the top and bottom portions of the frame in such a manner that the maximum thickness is thicker in the range from 35% to 60% than the minimum thickness, which increases a weight per unit length of the frame toward the side sections.

    • A racket comprised of a frame connected to a handle wherein the frame has a retaining channel that extends around its outer periphery. The frame also has a plurality of holes extending therethrough for receiving individual strings. Slidable within the retaining channel are a plurality of retaining members that have recesses in their end portions. The recesses serve to define string holes when the retaining members are placed together. Each of the strings has a portion of increased extent at each end such that the strings can be passed through the frame hole while at the same time being secured to the frame by way of the string holes on the retaining members. Since the string holes in the retaining members are smaller in size than the portion of the string of increased extent, the strings are held in place in the frame.

    • A method of producing a racket frame, in which multiple layers of wooden strips are laminated to form a racket frame. An elongate groove is made at least in a wooden strip of mid layer on the side perpendicular to the string of the racket. The groove includes a shallow elongate central portion and two deeper elongate portions joining longitudinally with the central portion. A reinforcing material is filled in the groove and the mid layer is then plied with the wooden strips of other layers by means of adhesive. The preformed frame is heated and the reinforcing material sets in the groove and form an integral body therewith.The racket frame comprises, a plurality of elongate wooden strips laminated and fabricated to form a frame; and a reinforcing material being sandwiched in the mid part of the frame. The reinforcing material extends longitudinally along the frame and have a structure in which the cross section is narrow at the central part and broad about two ends.

    • It is not always easy for a beginner to control the hitting of a ball with a tennis racket. Thus, there is only a small central area known as the sweep spot on which the ball has to impinge if it is to be hit consistently and accurately. The racket of the invention has a head with an elongated oval shape with the major axis of the oval being substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the handle and so a sweep spot is provided which is elongated in the direction of the axis of the handle. With such a racket, a beginner can usually hit a ball more accurately and effectively. Preferably, the racket frame has two sides which are substantially straight and parallel to one another and to the axis of the handle. A preferred manner of stringing such a racket is to use two sets of interwoven parallel strings, each set being oriented at an angle of about 45.degree. to the axis of the handle. Such an arrangement has advantages which include the fact that the majority of the strings are of approximately the same length and so can all be tensioned to about the same extent.

    • A racket frame for ball games, such as a tennis racket frame, is made out of a length of material shaped into a loop to form a generally round head and two parallel longitudinal branches forming a portion of a racket handle. The length of material comprises a hollow beam having a cavity of generally rectangular cross-section. The cavity is bounded by flanges and webs of the beam which are shaped so as receive and cooperate with additional elements. The frame has a central bow having a longitudinal internal channel in communication with the internal cavity of the length of material and molded material extends through the cavity of the beam and into the channel of the central bow. The racket frame possesses good mechanical qualities and results in satisfactory playing performance.
