    • A freezer includes a housing having a sidewall defining a chamber, and an inlet and an outlet in communication with the chamber; a pair of baffle assemblies spaced apart and disposed in the chamber, a first one of the pair movable 90° degrees out of phase from a second one of the pair; a plate disposed in the chamber and extending between the first and second baffle assemblies for dividing a portion of the chamber into an intake zone and an outflow zone; a fan disposed in the chamber between the first and second baffle assemblies and in communication with the intake and outflow zones for providing a gas flow from the intake zone to the outflow zone; and a delivery apparatus in communication with the chamber for delivering a chilling substance to the chamber for reducing a temperature of a product. A method is also provided.

    • A device for generating fluid micro streams comprises a body portion with a fluid supply cavity therein and a plurality of fluid micro channels interconnecting the fluid supply cavity with an external outlet face of the body portion, the body portion being formed from a plurality of stacked plates, said micro channels being formed at interfaces of at least certain of said stacked plates. The micro channels have an oblong cross-sectional profile over a certain section leading to the outlet face, with a major width that is greater than two times a minor width thereof, where the minor width is less than 200 um. The device can be used in apparatus for freezing of food, cooling a gas or inducing a chemical reaction between a liquid and a gas.

    • A device and method for freezing or cooling of food or other items using cryogenic and low temperature coolants is provided. The device includes a coolant container which contains the cryogenic or low temperature coolant. The device will also include a freezing compartment with a lower surface which is immediately adjacent to the coolant container. The coolant container includes a valve for controlling the pressure within the coolant container, and thereby control the temperature of the coolant. When the materials to be cooled are placed in the freezing compartment the coolant will absorb heat from the materials via the lower surface and some of the coolant will vaporize. In a preferred embodiment the device includes a system for collecting the vapors thus created.
