    • An impeller for a centrifugal fan includes a hub, impeller blades, and struts for supporting the blades in a circumferential array spaced apart from the hub. The number of struts can equal the number of blades, each strut extended from the hub to support two blades while each blade is supported by one strut nearer to its leading edge and another strut nearer to its trailing edge. Another arrangement features two struts per blade, with one of the struts coupled to the hub and a given blade, and the other strut coupled between the given blade and an adjacent blade. The struts are recessed inwardly from the leading and trailing edges to promote smoother air flow. The blades and struts are provided with aerodynamic thickness profiles to further improve air flow.

    • Disclosed is a rotary fan having a fan blade, a stationary guard surrounding the fan blade, a stationary motor housing rigidly affixed to the stationary guard, and a revolution mechanism. The revolution mechanism includes a rotary motor revolvably affixed to the motor housing at a universal pivot, the rotary motor having a rotating shaft engage the fan blade such that rotation of the rotating shaft causes rotation of the fan blade, and such that rotation of the fan blade causes an airflow. A revolution motor is rigidly affixed to the motor housing, and one of a link and a disk is rotated by the revolution motor and has an eccentric pivot rotationally engaging the rotary motor and configured to convert rotation of the revolution motor to conical revolution of the rotary motor relative to the motor housing about the universal pivot, such that the fan blade and the airflow revolve in a conical path.

    • A turbine blade with a spar and shell construction in which the spar includes a blade tip and a dove-tail on the root end of the spar. A pair of platform halves form a fir-tree attachment capable of sliding into an attachment slot formed within a rotor disk. The platform halves form a slot within the fir-tree configuration that will pinch the dovetail slot of the spar and secure the spar to the platform halves against radial displacement. The shell is secured between the spar tip and the platform of the platform halves when assembled together. The spar includes cooling air passages and impingement cooling holes to provide backside impingement cooling of the shell. A fastener secures the two platform halves together so that the spar and shell blade assembly can slide into the attachment slot within the rotor disk.
