    • An access door has a rectangular outer frame adapted to be set in a wall and having two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides defining four corners and a rectangular inner frame congruent to the outer frame, having longitudinal and transverse sides and four corners, and dimensioned to fit within the outer frame. Hinges at corners at ends of one of the longitudinal sides hold the inner frame in the outer frame and allow pivoting of the inner frame in the outer frame generally about the one longitudinal side. Two transversely effective spring latches are provided at the other longitudinal side near ends thereof between the inner and outer frames, and two longitudinally effective spring latches are provided at the transverse sides near the other longitudinal side between the inner and outer frames.

    • A coupling device for coupling a cover to a platform body of a scanner. The coupling device comprises two legs for attaching to the cover; a pivot shaft formed between the distal ends of the two legal a stopper coupled to the pivot shaft at a first predetermined angle; a pivot socket formed at the intersection top surface of the platform and the platform sidewall comprising a cavity, two vertical slots formed in the sidewall of the platform and extending to and penetrating the top surface of the platform for respectively receiving the two legs into the cavity, a horizontal slot formed in the sidewall of the platform for receiving the pivot shaft into the cavity, an upper engaging portion, and a lower engaging portion. When the legs and pivot shaft are received into the cavity, the upper engaging portion, by contact with the pivot shaft, prevents the legs from escaping the cavity during vertical movement of the legs, and the lower engaging portion, by contact with the stopper, prevents the opening of the cover beyond a second predetermined angle. Furthermore, the height of the horizontal gap is slightly larger than the diameter of the pivot shaft, and smaller than the combined length of the diameter of the pivot shaft and the stopper when the legs are in a vertical attitude, such that the pivot shaft and stopper cannot slip out of the horizontal gap during vertical movement of the legs.

    • An electro-magnetically shielded metallic enclosure is provided with a novel hinge structure. The enclosure has a plurality of side panels and at least one access door hinged to one of the side panels by a plurality of shielded hinges. Each such hinge has three principal elements: a metallic tab, an elongated slot for receiving and supporting the metallic tab, and a raised metal arch bridging the central portion of the elongated slot. The metallic tab is integrally formed on one edge of the access door and is designed to slide into an elongated slot located in an adjacent side panel to provide support for pivoting the metallic tab and the connected door in a hinged relationship. To prevent EMR from otherwise leaking through the elongated slot, a raised metal arch is provided on the interior of the enclosure bridging the central portion of the slot. The arch is spaced apart from the inner surface of the side panel to permit the free end of the metallic tab to freely rotate when the access door is swung open and closed.

    • This device includes: (a) an access opening, (b) support structure located adjacent an edge of the access opening and containing a plurality of slots, and (c) a sheet-metal door having one edge located adjacent the support structure, having a closed position covering the access opening, and having a fully-open position in which the door is perpendicular to its position when closed. The door is swingable between its closed and fully-open positions about a pivot axis located near said one door edge. The door includes a plurality of tabs projecting outwardly from said one edge, each tab being of a generally L-shaped cross-section when viewed from a reference plane perpendicular to the pivot axis. Each tab comprises a first arm located in the major plane of the door and a second arm extending transversely of the first arm. The second arm fits in an associated one of the slots and includes an extension extending laterally of the second arm beyond one end of the slot into a region behind the support structure when the door is in its closed position. When in its fully-open position, the door is laterally movable while the second arm is in its associated slot to a sufficient extent to shift the extension into a position of alignment with the slot, thereby allowing the door to be removed from the support structure.
