Head and base sections are provided for interconnecting the upper and lower ends of the soldiers which may themselves be connected to either screws or jacking members, header beams or bearing plates. The prop can be readily disassembled to allow the soldiers to be employed separately so that the arrangement allows them to have a dual purpose.

摘要： A temporary roof support comprising a boom pivotally mounted and positioned on the front of the mining vehicle. A temporary roof support jack is pivotally mounted to the front of said boom. The jack comprises a base structure secured to the boom and extending laterally thereof. The base structure has four pivot pins including an inside pair of pivot pins symmetrically spaced on each side of the base structure and an outside pair of pivot pins symmetrically spaced on each side of the base structure. Two pairs of swing arms are pivoted to said inside pivot pins. Two linkage extensions are pivotally joined to each other and at opposite ends to the free ends of the swing arms. Two extensible hydraulic means are pivotally secured at one end to the outside pivot pins and pivoted at the opposite ends to the swing arms such that the axes of the swing arms and extensible hydraulic means are always crossed. A beam is attached to the pivot joint of the linkage arms for supporting the roof.

摘要： There are disclosed two embodiments of a trench shoring device of the type having rails which are forced against the sides of the trench by one or more fluid actuated, extendible and retractible braces connected to and extending between the rails. In one embodiment, the rails extend vertically within the trench, and the opposite ends of the braces are so connected to the vertical rails that they may be swung folded positions during lowering into and raising from the trench. In another embodiment of the invention, the rails extend horizontally of the trench, and the ends of the braces are connected thereto in such a manner as to prevent substantial movement of the braces out of perpendicular positions with respect to the rails. In each embodiment, the rails are of "I"-beam shape including a relatively wide outer flange and a relatively narrow inner flange connecting the web, and the connections of the ends of the braces to the rails are of such construction as to transfer the load of the brace to the inner flange of each rail, and thus through the web of the rail to the outer flange, as well as directly to the outer flange.

Each side is of a sheet material with a semi-circular corner portion merging with legs in right angular relationship and tapered in breadth so as to be wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. The material of one side has slots extending up from the bottom and material of the other side has slots extending down from the top. Slots are respectively at the junction of the semi-circular corner with the legs for one side and part way around the semi-circular corner of the other side so that when the sides are slid together in interlocked relation there is a circular hollow central column partially of double wall thickness in which a vertically adjustable screw support is mounted.
