    • A cutting machine for cutting elongated, extruded plastic articles includes a cutter assembly composed of a pair of side-by-side, plate-like cutting die bushings having a transverse article opening formed therethrough configured and dimensioned to accommodate the passage and guidance of an elongated extruded plastic article therethrough, and a thin, generally planar cutting blade having a cutting edge. The blade is supportable for reciprocable movement between the cutting die bushings for movement between an operative position in which the blade moves across the article opening so as to cut an article disposed therein and an inoperative position in which the blade is displaced from the article opening. The blade is supported for reciprocable movement by at least one support finger disposed on each side of the blade which serves to prevent buckling of the blade. The machine also includes feed means disposed in front of the cutter assembly for feeding plastic articles to and through the article opening of the cutting die bushings and a reciprocable dead stop means disposed behind the cutter assembly in general alignment with the article opening for movement between an operative position in which it moves into the path of and stops the advance of the article and an inoperative position in which it is removed from the path of the article.

    • A cutter apparatus having a fixed blade in an opening of a paper feeding guide; and a movable blade having a cutting portion which enters into the opening. A paper holding plate is provided on the movable blade slidably in the cutting direction. The distal end of the paper holding plate is kept projected by a sliding mechanism in the cutting direction from the distal end of the cutting portion of the movable blade. With the paper holding plate firmly holding the paper against the feeding guide, the sliding mechanism further moves the movable blade into the opening. On carrying out the cutting operation, firstly the paper holding plate slidingly reaches the recording paper and tightly keeps the paper stationary. Thereafter the cutting portion of the movable blade moves forward enters into the opening to cut the paper. The result is that the recording paper does not escape when undergoing the cutting operation, the cutting quality can be kept excellent to a certain extent irrespective e.g. of the condition of the movable blade.

    • An apparatus for cutting pleated paper, and especially for filtration media for the automotive industry. Two tooth roller chains in parallel are supported above a support plate upon which pleated paper is placed. There is an opening in the plate through which the teeth of two sprockets supported beneath the plate may extend to mesh with the teeth of the corresponding roller chain. The teeth on both the chain and the sprocket are the same height as the pleated paper and when driven by an electric motor pulls the paper through the device separating each pleat. One pleat at a time is pushed through a slit in the table top at which point the pleat knuckle is sheared off by pneumatic operated cutter blade. A fiberoptics infrared scanner is used to monitor the amount of pleated material available. The number of pleats cut on any one run is controlled.

    • A machine for feeding and cutting sheet material includes a housing and a framework pivoted on the housing to permit loading of sheet material into the machine. A feed roll is journalled in the housing. A cooperating pressure roll is journalled on the framework. A spring is adjustably carried on the framework for adjusting the pressure of the pressure roll toward the feed roll. A knife blade on the framework, and fixed to the framework cooperates with a movable knife blade in the housing for cutting predetermined lengths of sheet material. A cam follower bearing is provided in the housing to help guide movement of the knife blade in the housing. A spring adjustment is provided in the linkage connecting the cylinder driving the movable knife blade and the movable knife blade for varying the force of the movable knife blade against the cam roller bearing. A safety interlock in circuit with the drive motor for the feed roll will stop the drive motor when there is a jam of sheet material in the machine in use or if the framework is open.

    • An automated system for forcibly dismantling used power transformers so that their metal constituents may be recovered for recycling. A rigid, generally cubicle frame is supported upon a suitable concrete floor. A cutting carriage is independently suspended from suitable rails attached to the frame for slidable movements toward or away from a receiving station into which transformer to be processed are conveyed. The cutter carriage includes a removable cutter blade configured to compressively shear transformer windings. The cutter carriage cooperates with a reciprocating attack carriage which is slidably suspended for independent movements toward or away from the receiving station. The attack carriage comprises an attack blade having at least one outwardly projecting penetrator which initially stabs and captures transformer to be processed. Both carriages may be hydraulically moved towards or away from each other. The attack carriage is preferably suspended from the cutter carriage. When compressed together shearing elements associated with the cutter blade and a specially configured attack plate quickly cut through transformers to aid in the recycling of their metal cores and windings. Transformers delivered to the receiving station may be lifted into a vulnerable attack position by an elevator. After a transformer is conveyed to the receiving station, it is preferably braced by a pusher plate prior to penetration by the attack system.
