    • An information processing apparatus capable of receiving and processing a variety of types of input is shown with features that make it easy to add properly synchronized information as desired. A CCD photoelectrically converts into image signals the light of objects collected by a photographic lens. The image signals of the photographic images are digitized by an analog/digital (A/D) conversion circuit, and are compressed by a digital signal processor (DSP). A central processing unit (CPU) records on a memory card the photographic images along with their input date and time as header information. When sound information is received through a microphone during reproduction of the photographic images, the CPU 34 records on the memory card the sound information along with the input date and time header information of the photographic images.

    • A digital video playback apparatus selectively reproduces video signals which are recorded by using a plurality of cameras each at different angles and method therefor. A digital playback apparatus reads out first and second video steam data and first and second audio stream data, which are compressed and recorded on a recording medium. A demultiplexer separates a signal output of the digital playback apparatus into system information, the first and second video stream data, and the audio stream data. First and second video decoders expand the first and second compressed video stream data outputs. An audio decoder decodes and expands the audio stream data outputs from the demultiplexer. A key input section generates first and second angle selection signals. A controller analyzes the system information, and generates a switching control signal and a plurality of delay time and gain control signals. A switch selects the first and second video stream data according to the switching control signal. A delay time and gain control circuit delays the audio stream data outputs from the audio decoder according to the delay time control signals, and controls gains of the delayed audio stream data according to the gain control signals.

    • A video record medium, such as a record disc, for recording a composite video and audio signal suitable for stop-motion playback, with accompanying audio. Discrete segments of analog audio signal are digitized and compressed in time and recorded on alternate tracks on the disc, and corresponding frames of a video signal are recorded on the tracks located therebetween. During playback of the disc, a selected audio track is scanned initially and the digital audio data recovered therefrom is entered into a memory device, after which the track for recording the corresponding video frame is scanned in a repeated fashion, to produce a stop-motion display of the frame, while the stored audio data is extracted from the memory device and converted back to an analog format, for simultaneous playback at its original speed.

    • The invention provides a data storage/playback device and method. The data storage/playback device includes at least one time-series data pickup device, a time-series data storage, at least one user input detector and a controller. The controller acts to control the storage and playback of time-series data. The controller further includes a correspondence-relationship storing section, a compression section, a condition-matching section and a playback section. The controller determines important intervals of time-series data and intervals of less important time-series data. Based on this determination, the compression section of the controller compresses the important interval time-series data using a different compression process from that of the less important time-series data. Thus, the important interval time-series data is maintained with high quality and storage space is conserved.
