    • A rotating machine comprises a stationary subassembly, a rotating subassembly, and a first circumferential track. The stationary subassembly includes a plurality of stator elements disposed proximate an inner circumference of a portion of the stationary subassembly, and a casing having a first portal. The rotating subassembly includes a plurality of rotor elements disposed proximate an outer circumference of a portion of the rotating subassembly. The rotating subassembly is aligned coaxially within the stationary subassembly and is rotatable relative to the stationary subassembly without the aid of support bearings. The first circumferential track is defined by a first rotor track portion on the rotating subassembly and a first stator track portion on the stationary subassembly, and is in communication with a first portal on the casing.

    • An apparatus for converting between mechanical and electrical energy, particularly suited for use as a compact high power alternator for automotive use and “remove and replace” retrofitting of existing vehicles. The apparatus comprises a rotor with permanent magnets, a stator with a winding, and a cooling system. Mechanisms to prevent the rotor magnets from clashing with the stator by minimizing rotor displacement, and absorbing unacceptable rotor displacement are disclosed. The cooling system directs coolant flow into thermal contact with at least one of the winding and magnets, and includes at least one passageway through the stator core. Various open and closed cooling systems are described. Cooling is facilitated by, for example, loosely wrapping the winding end turns, use of an asynchronous airflow source, and/or directing coolant through conduits extending through the stator into thermal contact with the windings.

    • A motor rotor includes an annular body and a magnetic body installed on an inner lateral surface of the annular body. The magnetic body has a first curved surface and a second curved surface opposing the first curved surface. The magnetic body props against the inner lateral surface of the annular body via the first curved surface. The first curved surface has a first curvature less than a second curvature of the second curved surface. Because the magnetic body of the motor rotor has an uneven thickness, and an air gap interval formed between the motor rotor and the stator also has an uneven width, forces applied to a region where the magnetic forces change directions are smooth. Therefore, the vibration of the whole motor is reduced, and the noises are suppressed effectively.

    • According to the invention, a system for rotating a parabolic antenna about a central point is disclosed. The system may include a support member, a spherical structure, and at least one arm. The support member may be coupled with a surface and may also be coupled with the support member. The spherical structure may be at least partially spherical in shape about the central point. The spherical structure may include a first plurality of magnets. The at least one arm may be in proximity to the spherical structure and may also include a second plurality of magnets. The at least one arm may be coupled with the parabolic antenna, and at least a portion of the magnets in either one of, or both of, the first plurality of magnets and the second plurality of magnets may be configured to be selectively activated to rotate the arms about the central point.
