    • Methods and systems are disclosed for the generation and use of merchant-customizable token formats that define tokens that represent credit card and other payment numbers in online transactions. The tokens, which are used instead of the card numbers themselves for security, can be specified by the token format to have a certain number of characters, have certain fields reserved for major card identifiers, use encryption and/or randomization, be alphanumeric, and have other formatting. The customized tokens can be used with legacy equipment that uses longer or shorter card numbers than the standard sixteen-digit payment card number format and can be less likely to be recognized as related to card numbers by identify thieves.

    • Methods and apparatuses of controlling a network payment are disclosed, which obtain a payment record when a selection of a payment instrument is needed, and determine a preferred payment instrument for a current transaction based on the payment record. By analyzing the payment record, a payment success rate of each payment instrument supported by a current payer under a current business scenario may be obtained, and a payment instrument having a maximum payment success rate may be set as the preferred payment instrument for the current transaction. The embodiments of the present disclosure therefore are able to implement an automatic selection of a payment instrument, reduce manual operations of a payer, simplify a payment process, and improve the payment efficiency and the transaction efficiency. In addition, using a payment instrument having a maximum payment success rate as a preferred payment instrument for a transaction may improve a success probability of a one-time payment, thus avoiding the need of re-selecting a new payment instrument and thereby improving the payment efficiency and the transaction efficiency.

Bluetooth-enabled electronic devices are configured to alternately scan and operate as beacons and employ various technologies to detect the signal strengths of other Bluetooth devices, and such signal strength values are wirelessly communicated to a server that resolves the various signal strength values into relative locations of each of the Bluetooth electronic devices.
