    • A case (10) for a portable electronic device (especially for an iPhone (100) and the like) comprises a shell (12), a diffuser (40) mounted within the shell (12), and an optional transparent insert (150) with custom graphics located between a front side (14) of the shell and the diffuser (40). The diffuser (40) comprises a Perspex panel having an etched portion (44) from which light escapes. The diffuser (40) may be slid between a position in which a flash (102) of the device is unobstructed, for normal photographic use, and a position in which light (200) from the flash (102) is received on a first surface (41) of the diffuser (40), whereby it is re-directed internally before being emitted from the etched portion (44) on the opposite, second surface (43) to provide even and bright illumination of that second surface.

    • A mechanism capable of preventing a movable member from being lifted up from an apparatus body when it is in its retracted position within the apparatus body. The movable member having a light emission unit is moved between a retracted position and a light emission position. A link member has one end pivotally supported by the apparatus body and the other end pivotally supporting the movable member. The link member is urged toward the apparatus body by a torsion spring, and the movable member is urged toward the link member by a tensile spring. A lock lever locks an engaging pawl of the movable member against urging forces of the respective springs when the light emission unit is in the retracted position, and a lock plate locks a restriction portion of the movable member against the urging forces of the respective springs.

    • The present disclosure provides a strobe mechanism which has a compact constitution thus avoiding vignetting of strobe light rays by a lens barrel. According to one aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a strobe mechanism which brings a strobe into a use state by making the strobe pop up from a stored state. The strobe mechanism includes: a base member; a slide member held in a movable manner in one direction with respect to the base member; a strobe part which is mounted on the slide member; and a capacitor which supplies electricity to the strobe part; and the capacitor is arranged in a region defined by walls of the slide member.
