    • An array substrate for a liquid crystal display device includes a substrate including a first driving region, a second driving region, and a pixel region, the pixel region including a switching region and a storage region; a first n-type transistor in the first driving region, a second p-type transistor in the second driving region; a third transistor in the switching region, the third transistor including a gate electrode, an active layer, a source electrode, and a drain electrode; an extension portion in the storage region and extending from the active layer; a metal pattern on the extension portion; a storage line over the metal pattern; and a pixel electrode in the pixel region and contacting the third transistor, wherein the metal pattern, the storage line and the pixel electrode form first, second and third electrodes of a storage capacitor that includes a first capacitor and a second capacitor parallel to each other.

    • A method for manufacturing a pixel electrode contact structure of a thin-film transistors liquid crystal display is disclosed. First, a transparent substrate having a first insulating layer thereon is provided. Afterward, a first metal layer and a second metal layer are sequentially formed on the substrate and then be patterned by a halftone technology and an etching process, wherein the second metal layer is removed within the pixel electrode contact area. In the meantime, the drain lines of the thin-film transistor comprising the first metal layer and the second metal layer are formed. Next, a patterned passivation layer is formed on the substrate. Finally, a pixel electrode layer directly connecting the first metal layers within the pixel electrode contact structure is formed on the substrate. This invention provides the pixel electrode contact structure with low contact resistance and prevents the current leakage from the drain line to the storage capacitor.

    • A liquid crystal display device, including: first and second substrates; a gate line on the first substrate; a data line crossing the gate line having a gate insulating film therebetween to define a pixel area; a pixel electrode formed of a transparent conductive film in a pixel hole passing through the gate insulating film in the pixel area; and a thin film transistor including a gate electrode, a source electrode, a drain electrode, and a semiconductor layer defining a channel between the source electrode and the drain electrode, wherein the semiconductor layer overlaps with a source and drain metal pattern including the data line, the source electrode and the drain electrode; and wherein the drain electrode protrudes from the semiconductor layer toward inside of the pixel electrode to be connected to the pixel electrode.
