    • A part handling and handwork table including a lift assembly, a drive assembly, a stack support assembly, and a part support beam assembly. The lift assembly is raised/lowered to properly position the stack support assembly adjacent a cart containing a series of stacks, one of which is to be lifted to access a rework part incorporated therein. The drive assembly is operated to drive a movable member of the stack support assembly into the cart and beneath the stack containing the rework part. The lift is further raised and the drive assembly is reversed to carry the stack out of the cart on the movable member of the stack support assembly. The part support beam assembly is secured to the movable member and includes a manually withdrawn movable portion that defines a surface upon which parts from the stack of parts may be placed so as to access or reveal the rework part.

    • A device for transporting vehicles during manufacturing is disclosed that allows for upward and downward movement of the vehicle but avoids adverse longitudinal or transverse swinging. The inventive device includes a moving carriage mounted on a fixed rail, an upper frame, a lower frame moveably connected with an elevation mechanism and at least one first pair of articulated arms for stabilizing the vertical movement of the vehicle. An additional pair of articulated arms may be provided which extend and retract in a plane that is perpendicular to the first pair of articulated arms. Additional stabilizing roller elements connected to a fixed rail are provided on a lateral arm of the upper frame to prevent swinging of the upper and the lower frames of the transporting device.

    • An inexpensive system for measuring and controlling the height of the platform of a lift, especially of a non-fixed lift such as fork-lift or scissors-lift. By the use of a time-monitoring microprocessor, this system carries out such measuring and controlling over a continuous range of height even though the direct-measuring operations just involve a small, discrete number of surrogate-height-markers and one or two off/on sensors. This is accomplished by incorporating into the control system (a) a geometric model relating the height of the platform to the value of a surrogate parameter and (b) dynamic model describing how the surrogate parameter changes with time during ascent and descent of the platform. With this data, the microprocessor can control the platform precisely, causing it to move to any vertical position within its normal range. The resolution is limited only by the precision of the geometric and dynamic models. This system can also incorporate in a unified way, and implement, upper and lower end-of-travel limits necessary to prevent damage to the lift mechanism, as well as instructions regarding desired platform movement whenever the platform reaches any particular key height.

    • A lifting platform for motor vehicles has at least one scissor-type framework with at least two lower scissor levers that cross each other and two upper scissor levers that cross each other. Either the upper or lower of two pivotably connected scissor levers is configured with a slot shape of a type which opens toward the other scissor lever, and this other scissor lever sinks at least most of the way into this slot when the platform lift is in its lowered position. Instead of a U-shaped slot configuration, the upper or lower of two pivotably connected scissor levers may have an L-shaped profile opening toward the other scissor lever and permitting it to sink into the crook of the L.
