    • An apparatus and method for unwinding a roll of web material are disclosed herein. The web material is unwound from the roll and the machine direction of motion of the web is altered without creating a problematic span of web material. A value analogous to the tension of the web material is determined. The speed of the web is adjusted according to the analog of the tension of the web. The apparatus can comprise an unwind stand to rotate the roll, and a means for altering the direction of travel of the web material. The apparatus further comprises a means to determine an analog of the web material tension and a means of controlling the speed of the web according to the analog of the web tension. The web material is routed to a downstream process.

    • A mail inserter has a first web driver to move a web from a web supply and a second web driver to feed the web to a cutter for cutting the web into sheets, wherein the first and second web drivers have different velocity profiles to allow a web loop to form between the web drivers. The loop is variable between a maximum size and a minimum size. When the loop reaches the minimum size, the first web driver is running at its maximum speed. At this point the first web driver is decelerated at a rate such that when the first web driver stops, the web loop is at its maximum size. The acceleration of the first web driver is at a constant rate which is inversely proportional to the difference between the maximum loop size and the minimum loop size.

    • A stick-on, flexible peel and seal, wet wipes package includes a flexible package body having a front surface, a rear surface and an internal space sized to contain a plurality of removable wet wipes. An elongated opening extends through the package body to the internal space for accessing and permitting dispensing of the removable wet wipes. A substantially self-closing, resealable label flap is positioned on the front surface of the package body to cover the opening formed therein. The label flap has a bottom surface provided with a sealing adhesive that creates a seal entirely around the periphery of the opening and permits repeated application and removal of the label flap relative to the package body. The label flap further has a starting tab non-adhesively positionable in contact with the front surface of the package body. An adhesive layer structure is provided on the rear surface of the package body for adhering the package body to a support surface. A removable peel-off release layer structure covers and protects the adhesive layer structure prior to use thereof. The package body and the adhesive layer structure are removable from the support surface following emptying of the wet wipes from the package body.
