    • Implantable devices, instruments, kits and methods for treatment of obesity. One or more devices can be implanted adjacent to or in contact with the stomach to occupy a space to prevent the stomach from expanding into that space as food is taken into the stomach. Alternatively, one or more devices may be implanted and expanded to displace at least a portion of the wall of the stomach to decrease the internal volume of the stomach that is available to receive food. Devices may be anchored to one or more internal structures at one or more locations without piercing through the wall of the stomach. Devices can be implanted using minimally invasive methods, such as percutaneous or laparoscopic methods. Delivery instruments are also provided. An intra-gastric sizing device is provided to facilitate implantation of an extra-gastric device in some method embodiments.

    • Intra-gastric fastening devices are disclosed herein. Expandable devices that are inserted into the stomach of the patient are maintained within by anchoring or otherwise fixing the expandable devices to the stomach walls. Such expandable devices, like inflatable balloons, have tethering regions for attachment to the one or more fasteners which can be configured to extend at least partially through one or several folds of the patient's stomach wall. The fasteners are thus affixed to the stomach walls by deploying the fasteners and manipulating the tissue walls entirely from the inside organ. Such fasteners can be formed in a variety of configurations, e.g., helical, elongate, ring, clamp, and they can be configured to be non-piercing. Alternatively, sutures can be used to wrap around or through a tissue fold for tethering the expandable devices. Non-piercing biased clamps can also be used to tether the device within the stomach.

    • An apparatus for forming a gastric restriction comprises an applier, an expandable member, and an adhesive. The applier comprises an elongate shaft, and is dimensioned to fit in an esophagus. The applier has a conduit configured to communicate a fluid medium. The expandable member is in fluid communication with the conduit of the applier. The adhesive is positioned on at least a portion of the outer surface of the expandable member. The adhesive is configured to adhere the expanded expandable member to the inner wall of a patient's stomach. The expandable member may have a generally toroid configuration with a stoma, such that the expandable member may provide a gastric restriction when expanded and adhered to the inner wall of a patient's stomach. The expandable member may thus provide a treatment for morbid obesity by reducing food intake, by reducing stomach volume, or otherwise.
