    • A handheld electric mixer has a rotational output spindle for holding mixer work pieces, first and second gears located on the rotational output spindle, and a motor. The first gear is rotationally coupled to the motor output shaft. The mixer includes a two-speed gear-box receiving torque from the motor, and transmitting the torque to the output spindle. The two-speed gear-box includes a rotational lay shaft axially parallel to the rotational output spindle, third and fourth gears located on the lay shaft, the third gear meshing with the first gear and the fourth gear meshing with the second gear. A selector mechanism selects between a first gear ratio and a second gear ratio and includes a clutch disk on the spindle, and moveable axially for alternatively engaging and rotatably locking the one of the third or fourth gears that is engaged with the clutch disk.

    • An electronic hand mixer for processing food materials is provided. The electronic hand mixer includes one or more beaters, a housing, and a drive motor mounted in the housing. The drive motor is adapted to apply rotational force to the beaters. The electronic hand mixer also includes a power control device for controlling electrical power supplied to the drive motor, a keypad for receiving instructions entered by users, a microprocessor for processing and carrying out the instructions and sending signals to the power control device, and a memory for storing the instructions. The instructions include at least one user-defined mixing course for conducting a mixing operation. The user-defined mixing course includes one or more mixing operations, and each of the mixing operations includes a user-defined running speed of the drive motor associated with a user-defined running period of time of the drive motor.

    • A machine (10) for mixing food in a cup (C) includes a housing having an agitator assembly (15) extending downwardly therefrom and adapted to be rotated by a motor to mix food in the cup (C). A switch assembly (20) is provided to operate the agitator assembly (15). The switch assembly (20) includes a bracket (21) which pivotally carries a plate (41) which extends downwardly adjacent to the agitator assembly (15). A switch (31) is carried by the bracket (21) and has an arm (36) biased toward the plate (41). The plate (41) is biased toward the arm (36) by springs (50) to maintain the switch (31) in the open position. Pivoting the plate (41) relative to the bracket (21) against the bias of the springs (50) allows the arm (36) of the switch (31) to pivot to close the switch (31) allowing the agitator assembly (15) to rotate. Releasing the plate (41) allows the springs (50) to bias the plate (41) against the arm (36) but a pad (55) silences any noise created thereby, and a wall (28) of the bracket (21) stops the plate (41) from exerting undue pressure on the arm (36).

    • A food processor includes a drive unit, a food processing tool driven rotatably by the drive unit, a rotary support, and a transmission device. The transmission device includes a first transmission unit driven rotatably by the drive unit and defining a first drive axis, a second transmission unit driving rotation of the rotary support and defining a second drive axis, and a coupling member that couples the first transmission unit to the second transmission unit. The coupling member permits movement of the first transmission unit relative to the second transmission unit from a first position, where the first drive axis is aligned with the second drive axis, to a second position, where the first drive axis forms an angle with the second drive axis. The coupling member enables transmission of drive power from the drive unit to the rotary support when the first transmission unit is at the first position.
