In the preferred embodiment, the securing mechanism is attached to or made integral with the bottom side of the body member. A preferred securing mechanism is configured and utilized in a manner similar to commonly available barrettes.

A textured material or other hair engaging mechanism can help keep the hair in place over the device and a hair extension component can be attached to the device for increased hair length.
