摘要： A sheet feed device includes a first sheet cassette including an accommodating portion configured to accommodate a first plurality of sheets, and a second sheet cassette disposed on the first sheet cassette and including a holding portion configured to hold a second plurality of sheets, in which one or more characteristics of the first plurality of sheets is different than one or more characteristics of the second plurality of sheets. The sheet feed device also includes a sheet feeder including a sheet feed roller, and the sheet feed device is configured to selectively feed the first plurality of sheets and the second plurality of sheets in a sheet feed direction toward a recording unit. Moreover, the sheet feed device includes a sheet separator configured to separate, one by one, the sheets fed by the sheet feeder. Specifically, the second sheet cassette is configured to move above the accommodating portion of the first sheet cassette and with respect to the sheet feeder, and the sheet feed roller is configured to contact the second plurality of sheets on the holding portion that is inclined so as to increase in height in a direction toward the sheet separator.

摘要： An image forming apparatus including: a print part; a feeding part; a first sheet feeding tray; and a second sheet feeding tray. The first sheet feeding tray stores a sheet of a first size therein, the feeding part feeding the sheet of the first size from the first sheet feeding tray to the print part in a sheet feeding direction. The second sheet feeding tray is mounted on the first sheet feeding tray and stores a sheet of a second size smaller than the first size therein, the feeding part feeding the sheet of the second size from the second sheet feeding tray to the print part in the sheet feeding direction, the second sheet feeding tray receiving a sheet printed by the print part and discharged in a direction opposite to the sheet feeding direction. The second sheet feeding tray has a pair of side guides which are provided in parallel to the sheet feeding direction and which contact against side ends of the sheet of the second side to guide the sheet of the second side to the print part. At least one of the pair of side guides is provided with a plate part which extends from an upper edge of the side guide to the other side guide and which receives the printed sheet thereon. The plate part has a backward-feed prevention part which prevents the printed sheet from being fed to the print part again.

The image forming apparatus includes a first tray that accommodates sheets; a first transfer path; a forming unit; an arm that can be pivoted; a roller that is rotatably provided at a leading end of the arm and feeds the sheets; a second tray that is provided on the first tray to form a two-stage structure, and can slide in a direction in which the second tray comes into contact with or is separated from the arm; and a cleaning member that is provided on the second tray and cleans the roller. The arm changes posture between a first posture in which the roller is supported upward by the first tray and a second posture in which the roller comes into pressure contact with the cleaning member.

摘要： A sheet-supply device supplying sheets one at a time from a stack of sheets in a sheet feeding direction. The device includes a slanting plate on which a stack of sheets is mounted. A sheet feed roller is positioned above the slanting plate applying a force to an uppermost sheet in the stack to move the sheet in a sheet feed direction. A fixed separation plate is fixed at a downstream end portion of the slanting plate. The separation plate is formed with a slot in which a high friction separation member is disposed. The high friction separation member is held by a resilient support plate 39 supported by the fixed separation plate. The resilient support plate has a comb like slats on which the high friction separation member is held. In a normal condition, the high friction separation member protrudes from the slot toward the leading edges of the sheets. When a leading edge of the sheet presses the high friction separation member by the rotation of the sheet feed roller, and the sheet has a predetermined stiffness, a part of the high friction separation member sinks into the slot by the deformation of the comb like slats.
