摘要： An impact absorbing material for a footwear article includes a first sheet having a plurality of projections for dispersing the force of an impact and a second sheet, having a lower durometer than the first sheet, that is bonded to the first sheet for absorbing the force from the projections. The projections are arranged on the first sheet such that nonlinear gaps are formed between adjacent pairs of projections. The impact absorbing material may be positioned between an upper and an inner liner of the footwear article and may be selectively positioned on the footwear article to protect an area on the wearer that is vulnerable to impact, such as the wearer's feet, ankles, heels or calves.

摘要： Anti-human Mpl antibodies were isolated and purified. Anti-human Mpl diabodies and anti-human Mpl sc(Fv)2 were prepared using genetic engineering techniques and anti-human Mpl sc(Fv)2 was also humanized. The diabodies and sc(Fv)2 were assayed for TPO-like agonistic activity, and were found to have activities higher than those of anti-human Mpl antibodies, or activities equivalent to or higher than those of naturally-occurring human TPO ligand.

摘要： Methods that involve detection of a DSG3 protein for diagnosing cancer are disclosed. In lung cancer, the expression of DSG3 was found to be enhanced at very high frequency at the gene level and protein level. Methods of the present invention can be carried out using an antibody that recognizes a DSG3 protein. Pharmaceutical compositions, cell growth inhibitors, and anticancer agents containing a DSG3-binding antibody as an active ingredient are also disclosed. Methods of inducing cell damage in DSG3-expressing cells and methods of suppressing proliferation of DSG3-expressing cells by contacting the DSG3-expressing cells with DSG3-binding antibodies are also disclosed.

An upper can be joined to the flanges along a lower peripheral allowance of the upper. The flanges can be separated into a medial forefoot flange segment and a medial heel flange segment, and a lateral forefoot flange segment and a lateral heel flange segment, respectively. The footwear optionally can include an outsole and an optional heel wedge, either or both of which can define a secondary recess into which the midsole interfits. A method for constructing the footwear includes providing the midsole, joining an upper peripheral allowance with the flanges, and joining an outsole with the midsole. Optionally, a heel wedge can be secured between the midsole and the outsole.
