Each printhead module includes an ink supply arrangement mounted on the carrier and a printhead chip mounted on the ink supply arrangement to be fed with ink from the ink supply arrangement. A plurality of capping devices is mounted on the carrier. Each capping device is displaceable with respect to the carrier between an operative position in which the capping device caps the printhead chip and an inoperative position in which the printhead chip is uncapped.

The printhead includes ink distribution layers, a layer of semiconductor ejection devices operatively supplied with ink via the ink distribution layers, and a guard layer positioned on top of the ejection device layer to protect the ejection devices. The guard layer defines printing passages via which the ejection devices eject ink. Also included is a rotary capper rotatably fixed to the guard layer about a central axis of the printhead, so that rotation of the capper covers or exposes the printing passages.

摘要： A method of collecting printed sheets of media from a printer is provided in which a printed sheet is ejected from the printer and allowed to fall along a substantially vertical path before the leading edge thereof is captured and a retaining force having a component substantially perpendicular to the vertical path is applied thereto. The sheet is then collected on a retaining surface which is inclined with respect to the substantially vertical path. In this way, the printed sheet is collected whilst maximising the amount of time that the ink printed on the sheet is exposed to air without contact with another surface. Accordingly, the ink is given time to dry and set thereby reducing any detrimental effects on the quality of the printout caused by collection.
