    • A rotational system for a miniature gas turbine engine includes a rotor shaft rotationally mounted to a forward bearing and an aft bearing. The rotor shaft is located axially with a single threaded rotor nut which provides an axial preload maintained by a fixed compressor wheel and spacers. A preload spring provides dynamic compensation for tolerance variation and undesirable axial movement during rotation of the shaft. A permanent magnet generator is mounted to the rotor shaft behind the forward bearing to generate electrical power for the engine and other accessories. The rotor shaft is inertia welded to a turbine wheel to form a cavity which provides a thermally conductive path away from the aft bearing. A seal ring mounted within a groove within the rotor shaft provides a pneumatic seal to further protect the aft bearing from thermal transfer between the turbine section and the compressor section.

    • An apparatus for performing abdominal and squat exercises is provided with a frame having a support member, a first end and a second end that operate to provide horizontal stabilization, and at least two leg securing bars extending substantially transversely from the frame of the apparatus. A first leg securing bar may be disposed at a first location along the frame, and a second leg securing bar may be disposed at a second location along the frame such that the arrangement of the leg securing bars in the first and second locations permits the apparatus to operate as an exercise device for abdominal and squat exercises. A user of the apparatus may position one or more legs in between the leg securing bars and perform abdominal and squat exercises without having to readjust the leg securing bars and without having to move one or more feet thereof in between routines.

    • A push to talk message protocol operating on a communication network between an originating and terminating communication device operates to transmit compressed message formats to initiate the push to talk message protocol. Four compressed session protocol message formats are used in the preferred embodiment. A compressed originating session initiation invite message is transmitted from the originating mobile station. A compressed terminating session initiation invite message is received by the terminating mobile station. A compressed session initiation protocol ping message is transmitted from the originating mobile station and received by the terminating mobile station. A compressed 200 OK session initiation protocol message is transmitted from the terminating mobile station and received by the originating mobile station. Finally, the originating mobile decompresses the 200 OK session initiation protocol message. These compressed massages are used to initiate the push to talk communication session.

    • A SIP header reduction protocol operating on a communication network to compress the SIP header fields on SIP control messages used to initiate a SIP communication session. The new protocol is implemented on the mobile use equipment (UE) (301) and P-CSCF proxy SIP server (302). The prior SIGCOMP compression dictionary is used to compress those header field parameters defined by the SIGCOMP dictionary. A new 3G Dictionary is implemented with header field parameters for several wireless specific data elements and parameters necessary to access various wireless technologies and services which are missing from the SIP/SDP based SIGCOMP dictionary. Finally, an Encoding Assistant (EA) (310, 355) function is implemented on the UE and P-CSCF that operates a standard encoding and decoding of SIP message header fields to reduce those SIP header fields that are dynamic over time but are essentially static in terms of most user communication. The EA parameters can be updated periodically, while the 3G and SIGCOMP dictionary are static and not updated.
