    • A method and apparatus for transmitting a voice packet through a radio link in a mobile communication system providing a voice service through a packet network inter-working with the Internet are provided, in which a voice packet based on an Internet protocol (e.g. a VoIP packet) is received, the voice packet comprising headers including a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) checksum; the voice packet is verified by using the UDP checksum, to determine if the voice packet has an error; the headers are compressed to construct a header-compressed packet including the UDP checksum and a Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) code calculated for other header fields, except for the UDP checksum from among the headers, when the voice packet has no error, the UDP checksum from the header-compressed packet is deleted to construct a header-compressed packet from which the UDP checksum has been deleted, and the header-compressed packet is transmitted without the UDP checksum through a wireless channel.

    • The present invention defines an efficient method for (re)selecting a cell according to a speed of a terminal in a HetNet where cells having various regions such as macro cells, pico cells and femto cells are arranged in the same frequency band in a mobile communication system. A cell selection control method of a terminal in a mobile communication system, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises a step of receiving, from a base station, cell list information for not allowing a terminal moving at a high speed to select a cell and a step of setting the terminal so that cells included in the cell list information are considered or not considered to be targets of selection or reselection when the terminal moves at the high speed. According to the present invention, in a network consisting of various types of cells using the same frequency band, the terminal can determine whether to select or reselect a cell according to the speed of the terminal. That is, the terminal moving at the high speed does not select or reselect a frequent service cell, thereby efficiently performing the cell selection or reselection. Further, power consumption of the terminal can be reduced.

    • An Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) method in a communication system having a protocol layer structure, in which a Layer 2 (L2) transmitter for generating an upper layer packet in a size suitable for transmission over a radio channel and transmitting the upper layer packet to a lower layer, transmits, to a receiver, polling information representative of an indicator for ordering the generation of a status report, and performs packet ARQ according to whether the status report is received within a predetermined time. The method includes determining whether there is a possibility that upper layer data contained in a packet data unit to be transmitted along with the polling information will cause an upper layer message in the opposite direction; and when there is a possibility that the upper layer data will cause an upper layer message, generating polling information ordering a receiver to wait for a predetermined time after receipt of a packet and to transmit an upper layer packet generated for the waiting time along with a status report, including the polling information in the packet data unit, and delivering the packet data unit to the lower layer.

    • Improving communication efficiency in handover re-establishing an ARQ entity in a mobile communication system is disclosed. The method includes transmitting first Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Packet Data Units (PDUs) correctly received from the source cell, together with a special indication requiring reordering of the first PDCP PDUs, from a Radio Link Control (RLC) receiving buffer to a PDCP receiving entity when a handover command message from a source cell to a target cell is received; buffering the first PDCP PDUs in a PDCP PDU reordering buffer by the PDCP receiving entity in response to the special indication; and when a second PDCP PDU is received from the target cell through a new RLC receiving entity for the target cell, outputting third PDCP PDUs up to a PDCP PDU before a first missing PDCP PDU having a sequence number higher than that of the second PDCP PDU from the PDCP reordering buffer. In the method, a PDCP entity performs reordering, thereby improving efficiency of communication.
