    • A phase delay element includes a brightness enhancement layer intermediate a reflection layer and an artificial light. The brightness enhancement layer is defined by a first surface and an opposite second surface. The first surface faces the reflection layer. A first light from the artificial light is incident on the second surface. A phase of the first light is delayed by about 1/4 phase (λ/4) so that a second light is emitted from the first surface toward the reflection layer. The second light is reflected from the reflection layer so that a third light is emitted from the reflection layer toward the first surface. A phase of the third light is delayed by about 1/4 phase (λ/4) so that a fourth light is emitted from the second surface. Therefore, a portion of the artificial light, which is reflected from the reflection layer, is recycled to improve a luminance of an LCD apparatus.

    • A performance monitoring device has an interrupt detection unit that detects generation of an interrupt process to be executed by a processor in accordance with TLB entry invalidation executed in an operating system. A counter value acquisition unit acquires a counter value of a predetermined event counted by the processor when the interrupt process is detected by the interrupt detection unit. A process information acquisition unit acquires identification information for identifying a process executed on the processor from the operating system immediately before the interrupt process is detected by the interrupt detection unit. An associating unit associates the counter value acquired by the counter value acquisition unit during the interrupt process with the identification information acquired by the process information acquisition unit immediately before the interrupt process.

    • A motor insulation deterioration detection device wherein a capacitor provided in a power supply section is utilized as a power supply for motor insulation deterioration detection, with provisions made to be able to detect insulation resistance regardless of the value of the voltage developed across the capacitor. The motor insulation deterioration detection device includes: a first contact which connects one end of the capacitor to ground; a second contact which connects the other end of the capacitor to a motor coil via a detection resistor; a unit which, using the detection resistor, detects a current flowing through a closed circuit formed by the first contact, capacitor, second contact, detection resistor, motor coil, and ground; a unit which detects the voltage developed across the capacitor; and a unit which calculates the insulation resistance value based on the current detection value and the voltage detection value.
