    • An approach is provided for printing policy-enabled electronic documents using locked printing. A client device includes a user interface, an application program and a print driver. The application program allows a user to generate an electronic document. The print driver corresponds to a particular printing device and is configured to cause a graphical user interface to be displayed on the user interface. The graphical user interface allows a user to specify one or more access policies to be applied to the electronic document. The print driver is configured to generate print data that includes a plurality of print commands which, when processed by the particular printing device, cause a printed version of the electronic document to be generated at the printing device. The print data includes data that indicates the one or more attributes of the one or more access policies that are to be applied to the electronic document.

    • According to approach for printing policy-enabled electronic documents, when a locked print module determines that an electronic document contained in the PDF print data is a policy-enabled electronic document, the locked print module causes the PDF print data to be stored on the printing device and not immediately processed for printing. A PDF-to-postscript conversion module generates and stores in a common data structure in the shared memory a request for security data for the PDF print data. A policy client module retrieves the request from the common data structure in the shared memory, obtains security data for the PDF print data from a policy server, and stores the security data in the common data structure in the shared memory. The PDF-to-postscript conversion module uses the security data to decrypt the PDF print data and then converts the decrypted PDF print data into postscript data for printing by the printing device.

    • Provided are a microprocessor suitable for constructing a multi-processor system and a method for controlling the reset and processor ID of the microprocessor. The microprocessor includes decoder receiving a reset ID having a predetermined binary value and a reset signal and decoding the reset ID, an ID generator receiving the decoding result of the decoder and generating at least one microprocessor ID and a reset ID of a microprocessor serially connected to the microprocessor, and a reset vector unit selecting a reset vector according to the decoding result of the decoder. The multi-processor system is constructed such that independent microprocessors of the system respectively generate their own reset vectors and processor IDs when a reset signal is input to the multi-processor system to initialize it. Thus, all the microprocessors of the system can be simultaneously started up when the reset signal is disabled. Accordingly, a resetting process in the multi-processor system is simplified, a period of time required for starting up the microprocessor is reduced, and the multi-processor system is easily designed.

    • Provided is an apparatus for automatic gain control (AGC) widely used in a receiver of a wireless communication system. The receiver of a wireless communication system includes: a step variable gain amplifier and an analog variable gain amplifier disposed in the path of a wireless signal and amplifying the wireless signal; an analog gain control unit for generating a gain control voltage for feedback-controlling an amplification value of the analog variable gain amplifier; a digital gain control unit for receiving the control voltage and generating a digital code determining an amplification value of the step variable gain amplifier. The apparatus for AGC constituted as described above can reduce power consumption and the number of devices by efficiently running an AGC loop in an analog domain, and can be embodied at low cost in a structure appropriately controlling the step gain amplifier and the analog gain amplifier.
