摘要： The invention relates to an oil-in-water emulsion and related method for administration of a drug to a mucosal surface. The emulsion has an aqueous continuous phase and a plurality of submicron particles having an average particle diameter of from 10 nm to 600 nm, with the particles having a hydrophobic core of a fat or oil which is surrounded by a surfactant layer. The emulsion further includes a drug and a mucoadhesive polymer which is a polymer or copolymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, a poly(methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride) copolymer, pectin, alginic acid, hyaluronic acid, chitosan, gum tragacanth, karaya gum or carboxymethylcellulose. The hydrophobic core has less than 1% (w/w) protein, relative to the weight of the hydrophobic core, and the emulsion contains less than 5% (w/w) surfactant, relative to the weight of the hydrophobic core.

C, stabilized by at least one phospholipid envelope, for the parenteral, oral, intranasal, rectal, or topical delivery of both fat-soluble and water-soluble drugs. Particles have a mean diameter in the range of 10 to 250 nm. A wide variety of drugs and oxygen transporting perfluorocarbons may be encapsulated in the particles. In addition to drug delivery vehicles, the invention provides oxygen transporting blood substitutes, and nanoemulsions for extracorporeal maintenance of tissues prior to transplantation.

摘要： A system and technique is disclosed for manufacturing a plurality of financial transaction cards substantially simultaneously even though their respective parameters, including the format of data in a readable/writable medium thereon, may vary from card to card. A surface of the financial transaction card contains terms and conditions and graphics, a writable/readable medium for storing variable data and a two-dimensional data matrix. The writable/readable medium may be implemented with a strip of magnetic material applied to the surface of the card, a smart chip carried on the card substrate, a two dimensional data matrix such as a barcode printed on the surface of the card such or any combination thereof. The variable data may be recorded on the writable/readable medium and may include an identifier which uniquely identifies the gift card from all other gift cards in the production set. The data stored in the two dimensional barcode serves as a reference to a data record, which may include data identifying another item, such as a greeting card or other carrier mechanism this, with which the gift card may be matched.

The server system is accessible online and enables network users to select and customize electronic versions of greeting cards. The customizations to the cards, as well as data identifying the card, the network user, the card recipient, and a vendor, are transmitted to a client system located at the vendor's distribution facilities. The transmitted information is utilized to print the card in hard copy form for shipment by the vendor to the designated recipient. In the disclosed system, a network user may view the card including any customizations in WYSIWYG format.
