    • An air conditioning system for a vehicle that is driven by a vehicular power source. The system has a compressor selectively operable by the vehicular power source and an electric motor. The electric motor is used as a drive force of the compressor when the vehicular power source is in a non-operative state. The compressor compresses refrigerant gas introduced into a suction chamber from an external refrigerant circuit. A displacement of the compressor is variable, based on a differential pressure. The compressor has a control valve that is disposed on a refrigerant passage communicating with the crank chamber. The control valve has a valve plunger for changing an opening size of the control valve to adjust pressure in the crank chamber. The air conditioning system comprises pressure sensing member, actuator, and controller. The pressure sensing member is disposed in the control valve and applies biasing force to the plunger based on pressure in the external circuit. The biasing force is applied to cancel change of the pressure in the external circuit. The actuator is disposed in the control valve and applies reverse force against the biasing force to the plunger. The plunger is moved to increase the displacement by the reverse force. The controller controls the actuator to increase the reverse force in steps by a magnitude that is small enough that the electric motor is able to stably drive the compressor.

    • An external control variable displacement compressor varies its displacement based on the pressure in a control chamber. The compressor has a valve chamber defined in a housing. The valve chamber has an opening to accommodate an electrically operative control valve. The control valve controls pressure in the control chamber due to an external electrical signal. An electrical power supply line is connected to the control valve, the power supply line being in contact with an opening of the valve chamber. The valve chamber opening is surrounded by a circumferential wall. An agonic surface formed on the circumferential wall is constituted of a rounded surface formed by rounding a corner of the opening and/or a chamfered surface formed by chamfering a top of the opening, and is formed on a part of or the entire circumferential wall. The power supply line is to be in contact with the agonic surface.

    • A compressor includes a housing, a compression mechanism, an input shaft rotatable on an axis thereof, an output shaft for driving the compression mechanism, a transmission for transmitting torque from the input shaft to the output shaft and also changing the rotating speed of the input shaft and a control device for controlling the operation of the transmission. The transmission includes a plurality of planetary rollers, a carrier rotatably supporting the respective planetary rollers and being integrally rotatable with the input shaft, a sun roller engaged with the respective planetary rollers and integrally rotatable with the output shaft and a ring roller engaged with the respective planetary rollers. The ring roller can be fixed to the housing or rotatable relative to the housing. The control device includes a one-way clutch allowing the ring roller to rotate only one direction relative to the carrier and a clutch fixing the ring roller to the housing or allowing the ring roller to rotate relative to the housing. The input shaft, the carrier, the respective planetary rollers and the sun roller cooperate to form an assembly that can move as a unit relative to the housing in the direction that is parallel to the axis.

    • A displacement control mechanism for a variable displacement compressor includes a first valve hole, a first valve body, a pressure sensing means operable to sense pressures of first and second points in a discharge pressure region to adjust a position of the first valve body, and a pressure-difference-increasing means operable to increase pressure difference between the first and second points when the pressure of a suction pressure region falls below a predetermined standard pressure. The pressure sensing means displaces the first valve body to increase an opening degree of the first valve hole according to increase of the pressure difference when the first valve hole is part of a supply passage. The pressure sensing means displaces the first valve body to decrease the opening degree of the first valve hole according to the increase of the pressure difference when the first valve hole is part of a bleed passage.

    • A power transmission mechanism for transmitting power of an external drive source to a rotary shaft which is rotatably supported by a housing of a rotary machine comprises a first rotor fixed to the rotary shaft for rotation therewith, a second rotor rotatably supported by the housing for receiving the power of the external drive source, and a spring clutch disposed over first and second outer peripheral surfaces of the first and second rotors which are aligned with each other along an axial direction of the rotary shaft. The spring clutch is mounted at one end to the first rotor and at the other end to an armature. The spring clutch tightens the first and second outer peripheral surfaces thereby to connect the first and second rotors when the armature is attracted to the second rotor.
