    • Embodiments of a multi-radio platform and method for mitigating the effects of interference are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the multi-radio platform includes co-located radios including a Bluetooth transceiver and a wireless network transceiver. The wireless network transceiver may apply a transmit-active noise-cancellation matrix to signals received by the wireless network transceiver when the Bluetooth transceiver is transmitting and may apply a transmit-inactive noise-cancellation matrix to signals received when the Bluetooth transceiver is not transmitting. The transmit-active noise-cancellation matrix may mitigate effects of emissions generated by the Bluetooth transceiver when the Bluetooth transceiver is transmitting. The transmit-inactive noise-cancellation matrix is to mitigate effects of platform noise generated by platform elements of the multi-radio platform.

    • In a multi-radio wireless device, a first radio and a second radio share a plurality of antennas. A MAC coordination engine may coordinate the activities of the first and second radios to facilitate the allocation of antennas to the radios. In at least one embodiment, the second radio is given priority over the first radio in the allocation of antennas. When the first radio desires to communicate, a number of antennas that is available for use may be determined. It may then be determined whether the communication should be permitted to proceed given the number of available antennas.

    • A wireless communications device in a first network with contention-based access may send a special frame to one or more other devices in the first network, informing them that it will not be available to receive any transmissions during a specified time period. The frame may also specify a delay period, indicating when the period of unavailability will start. When the device sending the special frame also has a co-located radio that operates in a second network that uses centrally-controlled scheduling, this special frame may be used to prevent other devices in the first network from sending it any transmissions while the co-located radio is communicating in the second network, thereby reducing the chance of interference between the two co-located radios.

In some embodiments, an initiating link manager may generate and transmit messages to a responding link manager. The messages may include a desired slot offset value and a desired point in time to perform slot adjustment. The responding link manager may return with a message indicating acceptance or nonacceptance of the desired slot offset value. If the responding link manager accepts the desired slot offset value, the message may also include whether the slot adjustment may be implemented at the desired point in time or incrementally. In some embodiments, a transmit power level is set for transmissions by a shorter-range radio module during a reception by a longer-range radio module to a lesser of a maximum allowed power level or a next requested power level when transmit step-down mode is enabled.
