    • A socket connector (1) includes a dielectric housing (11) and a number of contacts (12) received in the housing. The housing defines top and bottom surfaces (111, 112) and a number of passageways (113) between the top and bottom surfaces. Each contact has a retention body (121) secured in a corresponding passageway and a contact portion extending beyond the top surface a first vertical distance for engaging with a corresponding pad (21) of an IC package (2). The body has an end projects beyond the top surface a second vertical distance. Protrusions (115) extend upwardly from the top surface toward the IC package, for supporting the IC package. Each protrusion projects the top surface a vertical height shorter than said first vertical distance but larger than said second distance. Thereby the pad can be prevented from electrically engaging the body of an adjacent contact when the IC package is pressed to mate with the connector. Thus, reliable electrically connecting between the connector and the IC package is secured.

    • An electrical connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a pick up cap (3) mounted onto the connector. The connector defines a number of cells (26) for receiving a corresponding number of contacts (22). The pick up cap has a planar body (31) forming a plane top surface (300), which can be sucked by a vacuum suction device to move the connector assembly to a desired location on a PCB, and a bottom surface (301) opposite to the top surface. Several elongate passages (34) are defined in and through the planar body. Each passage extends aslant from the top surface to the bottom surface thereby preventing the contacts from dust. When curing adhesive film at high temperature, heated air can flow quickly through the passages and the cells to a bottom portion of the connector and reliable electrical connection between the contacts and the PCB are subsequently produced.

The sidewall that is far from the clip defines a plurality of rigid blocks (2683) in an inner side for resisting scrape between the sidewall and the LGA package. Therefore, the sidewall of the housing can be protected from scraping damage during insertion of the LGA package into the housing.

    • An electrical connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a pick up cap (3) mounted onto the connector. Several vents (34) each extend zigzag from the top surface to the bottom surface. Each vent forms an upper chamber (341) and a lower chamber (342) communicating and displacing with each other in a manner, such that the upper and lower chambers do not overlap in a direction perpendicular to the top surface. The vents can prevent the contacts from any dirty material and heated air can flow quickly through the vents and the cells to a bottom portion of the connector during curing adhesive film at high temperature.

    • A contact module with connectors adapted to engage with first and second electrical conductors such that when resiliently interfaced with the conductors there is a net zero moment of inertia exerted on the conductors. Each individual connector exerts a resilient spring force to engage with an electrical conductor. When such resilient forces, as in the prior art are aggregated, they can exert a considerable vectored moment of inertia on the electrical conductors to which they are connected. The connectors of the present invention are arranged so that each individual connector has an opposing connector somewhere in the module to offset each individual moment of inertia so that the net sum of all moments on the interfacing electrical conductor is zero.

The connector includes an insulative housing (21), a plurality of contacts (22) received in the housing, and a metal clip (25) mounted on the housing. The clip is disposed on the housing to press the CPU upon the contacts and has two opposite slant sides (256). The pick-up cap is generally rectangular, and has clasps (307, 308) at two opposite ends thereof. The clasp defines a first and second sidewalls (314, 316) at two opposite ends thereof, a declining face (318) connecting the first and second sidewalls. The declining face declines at a same direction as the slant sides of the clip. The clasps snappingly clasp sides of the clip of the connector, thereby securely mounting the pick-up cap onto the connector.

    • A socket (20) includes a dielectric housing (30) and conductive terminals (40) secured in the housing. The housing defines upper and lower surface (322, 324) and a number of cells (320). The body has an upper end (422) flushed with the upper mating surface and a lower end (424) projected beyond the lower surface.
