    • The systems of the present invention provide improved accuracy in monitoring, analysing, detecting, predicting and/or providing alerts and alarms associated with depth of anaesthesia, depth of consciousness, hypnotic state, sedation depth, fatigue or vigilance of a subject, with as few as 3 surface electrodes. The systems incorporate real-time phase, amplitude and frequency analysis of a subject's electro-encephalogram. The systems weight outputs of various types of analyses to produce an integrated analysis or display for precise indication or alert to users of the systems including anaesthetists, nurses and other medical personnel, transport drivers and machine workers. The systems weight the outputs of one or more analysis algorithms including combinations of simultaneous, real-time R&K analysis, AEP spectral analysis-SEF-MF, Bi-coherence analysis, initial wave analysis, auditory response, arousal analysis, body movement analysis, 95% spectral edge analysis and anaesthetic phase and spectral energy variance measurement in association with a subject's state of consciousness.

    • An inlet valve is partially coated with a protective coating to resist corrosion and gas impingement when used in an internal combustion engine. The inlet valve has a hard cladding that is shaped to function as a valve seat. The hard cladding forms an interface with the valve head body, which is typically made of a softer metallic material than the hard cladding. The protective coating is bonded to the inlet valve and covers the cladding-body interface. The protective coating is resistant to corrosion, wear from gas impingement, and can withstand the high temperatures reached in internal combustion engines. Internal engines incorporating the valves are more durable and less susceptible to catastrophic valve failure. A method for making the inlet valves generally includes masking a portion of the valve stem and the valve seat, applying a protective coating to cladding-body interface, and curing the protective coating or otherwise bonding the protective coating to the inlet valve.

    • A system and method for authenticating a host on a network enables the host to update IP configuration and internal configuration of a storage controller connected to the network. The host has an algorithm to decrypt a security key supplied by the storage controller. The host broadcasts a discovery command which includes an IP address of the host and a service requested by the host. The discovery command conforms to a proprietary discovery command protocol. In response to the discovery command, the host receives a response from a storage controller which is able to provide the requested service. The response includes a WWN, IP configuration and a security key of the storage controller, and conforms to the discovery command protocol. Next, the host decrypts the security key received from the storage controller using the decryption algorithm, and sends an updated IP configuration to the storage controller along with the security key for authentication. Next, the host exchanges other keys with the storage controller using IKE and IPSec. Afterwards, the host sends an updated internal configuration to the storage controller.
