    • A system for delivering advertisements based on a digital television system and a mobile communication device is disclosed. The television system and the mobile device are connected in ad hoc manner when a program is broadcasted by the television system. When a user is attracted by an item in the program, an instruction is sent from a remote control device of the television system or from the mobile device to send a data file including a product identifier to the mobile device. The user may use a cursor controlled by the remote control device or by the mobile device to locate the item. An icon is displayed on a display screen of the mobile device to represent the received data file. When the icon is selected, the mobile device is connected to a data manager in the Internet to deliver more product information to the user.

    • A street-lighting and solar energy collection system is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of lighting/solar energy collecting units, an AC and DC power transmission means and a control unit. The system operates in one of the two operation modes. In the first operation mode as the street-lighting system, the units receive AC power from the power grid for lighting. In the second operation mode as the solar energy collecting system, the units transmit generated DC electricity to a centralized DC to AC converter in the control unit. The control unit further provides a means for switching the system in between two modes. When the system is operated as the solar energy collection system, it is disconnected from the power grid. The generated DC electricity from each unit is converted by the AC to DC converter in the control unit and is subsequently injected into the power grid. Communication devices in the units and in the control unit form an ad hoc communication network. Instructions for operations can be sent from the control unit to the units. Further, the operation status from each unit can be collected and be sent to the control unit.

    • A solar energy collection system is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of solar panels and a control device. The panel further comprises a plurality of solar modules, a supporting, pivoting and tilting mechanism, a controller and a short range communication unit. The control device further comprises an orientation detector for determining the optimized orientation of a panel towards the sun for receiving maximum sun radiation. According to one of the embodiments of the present invention, the orientation detector is an illumination detector on a top surface of a panel controlled by a pivoting and tilting mechanism of the control device. The control device further comprises a communication unit. The communication units from the solar panels and from the control device form an ad hoc communication network. The optimized orientation determined by the control device may be transmitted to the solar panels through the ad hoc communication network. The control device may also communicate with a server connected to an existing communication network such as the Internet.

    • A method is disclosed for distributing media assets by employing a new electronic apparatus. Selected media assets are pre-loaded to the apparatus based upon a targeted user's personal profile. The operation of “pre-loading” may be conducted at a manufacturing site or at a point of sales. The selected assets are encoded. The user may purchase a pre-loaded asset through a pre-paid credit system or through an on-line payment facility. The purchased asset may be decoded based upon a public/private key method. The invention is characterized by that the storage system of the electronic apparatus is managed by a software module. Each pre-loaded media asset is assigned to a priority in a sequential manner. The lower priority assets are deleted, in a manner un-notified to the user, when the storage capacity is required as a result of the user's operation of the apparatus.
