    • A platform for the automated testing of event driven software applications is provided. A source environment is replicated to a target environment. The target environment includes a target system. A test case is defined with a target system, specific attributes and verification information. The attributes of the test case include the target system. The test case is fired. An event is simulated for the test case based on the target system and the specific attributes. The simulated event is transmitted to the target environment. The results of the test case being fired are determined based on verification information. The results are recorded to a data store.

    • A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server having a controller to monitor first and second access devices of a communications network for an alarm where the first and second access devices are connected to each other by a fiber optic cable and where the first and second access devices are capable of transmitting media content to a communications device of a user, identify hierarchical cable relationships associated with the fiber optic cable, monitor network elements of the communications network that are associated with the hierarchical cable relationships for other alarms, and determine a fiber cut of the fiber optic cable based at least in part on the alarm of the monitored first and second access devices and the other alarms of the monitored network elements. Other embodiments are disclosed.

    • Described herein are systems and methods for automatically troubleshooting problems related to Media Access Control (“MAC”) address limit problems within a virtual local area network (“VLAN”). An exemplary method includes identifying a media access control (“MAC”) address alert within a network, referencing a translation table of a plurality of MAC addresses to detect a whether a number of MAC addresses in the network exceeds a threshold number, and providing a solution for the MAC address alert.
