摘要： This element substrate is an element substrate for a printhead which includes a plurality of printing elements to which a first voltage is applied, a plurality of driving elements which drive the plurality of printing elements, a logical circuit which outputs a driving signal to control the plurality of driving elements, and a driving voltage converter circuit which converts the voltage of the driving signal output from the logical circuit into a second voltage lower than the first voltage and outputs the second voltage to the plurality of driving elements. The element substrate includes a driving voltage generating circuit which generates, on the basis of the first voltage, the second voltage to drive the driving voltage converter circuit. The driving voltage generating circuit has a constant current source for generating a constant current based on the first voltage and generates the second voltage based on the constant current.

摘要： Disclosed is a printing head having connection terminals for performing an electrical connection of signals including drive signals of print elements by contacting connection terminals in an apparatus side when the head is mounted onto an ink jet printing apparatus. It is made to guarantee connections of all terminals by detecting contacts of a part of terminals. Among the terminals in the head, terminals whose distances from the connection terminals in the printing apparatus become maximum when a deviation occurred in the mounting, are used as terminals for contact detection. For example, from among the connection terminals arranged in a planar area, which is rectangular-shaped, terminals positioned in corners are used as the terminals for the contact detection. When the contacts of these terminals are detected, the connections of all the terminals inside the area can be guaranteed.

For this purpose, the structure is constituted such that a diffusion preventing layer for mainly protecting a lower layer among power wiring metals is covered by a metal layer for mainly supplying power, in connection with its upper surface and at least part of a side surface. Herewith, since a single metal appears on a surface of the power wiring including up to its side surface, even circumstance occurs of coming into contact with the ink or the moisture, a battery reaction accompanied by difference of ionization tendency is not generated, and thus corrosion or short-circuit of the power wiring is suppressed.
