摘要： A radially expandable stent for implantation within a body lumen having a generally cylindrical body with open proximal and distal ends, the cylindrical body comprising a plurality of metal elements joined to allow flexing of the cylindrical body along the longitudinal axis of the body whereby the stent can conform to a curved body lumen and a polymeric film extending between the metal elements of the stent. The stent provides a biocompatible polymeric surface to contact and support a body lumen and also a flexible structure to allow the stent to conform closely to bends in a body lumen. The stent is especially useful for repairing an injury to blood vessels caused during angioplasty procedures.

The method for making the guidewire includes burnishing one end of a wire to create a rounded distal tip and cutting a predetermined pattern of axially spaced grooves in a length of wire adjacent to the distal tip to create a flexible portion.

摘要： A balloon catheter includes a sheath surrounding the balloon, the sheath having a longitudinal line of weakness and a drug-containing viscous matrix material intermediate between the balloon and the sheath such that when the balloon is positioned and inflated in the body lumen it causes the sheath to burst at the line of weakness and release viscous matrix material onto said body lumen. The device provides accurate placement of the dosage required at the location in need of treatment. The catheter is especially useful in balloon angioplasty procedures.

摘要： Systems, methods and apparatus are included that are configured to model microvascular obstruction (MVO) in patients. According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a multi-scale model is configured to mimic myocardial microcirculation of coronary vessels. The model includes collaterals configured to provide alternative pathways possibly bypassing the MVO, and configured to model coronary artery compliance for spatially resolved fluid transport through the coronary vessels. The model is configured to simulate the MVO by increasing flow resistance in at least one of the modelled coronary vessels, or by blocking the at least one of the modelled coronary vessels completely. The model is also configured to mimic behavior of fluid transport in the coronary vessels during diagnostics or treatment, to design and optimize therapy protocols for the MVO.

摘要： A method that electrically stimulates a heart muscle to alter the ejection profile of the heart, to control the mechanical function of the heart and reduce the observed blood pressure of the patient. The therapy may be invoked by an implantable blood pressure sensor associated with a pacemaker like device. In some cases, where a measured pretreatment blood pressure exceeds a treatment threshold, a patient's heart may be stimulated with an electrical stimulus timed relative to the patient's cardiac ejection cycle. This is done to cause dyssynchrony between at least two cardiac chambers or within a cardiac chamber, which alters the patient's cardiac ejection profile from a pretreatment cardiac ejection profile. This has the effect of reducing the patient's blood pressure from the measured pretreatment blood pressure.
