摘要： A child seat having a child restraint apparatus is provided. The child seat includes a shell formed to include a seat bottom having a front edge and a back edge. The child seat also includes a T-shaped bar including a post having a base mounted to the shell and a tip. The T-shaped bar also includes an elongated transverse cross member appended to the tip and arranged to lie in perpendicular relation to the post. The cross member swings between a child-restraining position above the seat bottom and a down-out-of-the-way position below the seat bottom. The base is mounted to pivot about a pivot axis and the cross member is spaced-apart from the pivot axis to overlie legs of a child seated on the seat bottom when the cross member is in the child-restraining position. The child seat further includes a foot rest and a mechanism for supporting the foot rest below the seat bottom so that the cross member engages the foot rest to limit further downward pivoting movement when the cross member is in the down-out-of-the-way position.

摘要： An infant restraint device is provided for securing and supporting an infant inside a motor vehicle. The device includes a shell assembly having upper and lower shell portions pivotally coupled together. The upper shell portion can be positioned in either a first generally planar orientation or in a second angular orientation with respect to the lower shell portion. A locking mechanism is provided for securing the upper and lower shell portions together in either the first or second orientations. In the first generally planar orientation, the device provides a car bed for the infant. In the second angular orientation, the device provides a standard rear-facing infant seat. A collapsible lower support surface provides a seat for the infant when the device is in the angular orientation. The lower support surface bends along a flexible portion when the upper shell portion of the device moves to the planar orientation to provide a generally planar support surface for the infant. The infant is held in position within the device by a lower strap and first and second shoulder straps. A slide mechanism is provided to permit lateral movement of the first and second shoulder straps with respect to the shell assembly without misaligning or tangling the shoulder straps. An adjustment strap is provided for simultaneously adjusting the position of the lower strap and the first and second shoulder straps after the infant is situated inside the shell assembly.

摘要： A restraining apparatus for a child's car seat is provided which includes a U-shaped member pivotally mounted at its terminal ends to the opposite sides of the upper portion of the frame of the seat so as to be movable between positions above the occupant and in front of the occupant, said U-shaped member having a padded shield mounted about the bight thereof. A harness having two shoulder straps and a crotch strap is joined together at one of the ends of each strap. A plurality of slots in the back of the seat structure accepts the shoulder straps which pass through and forward of the seat structure. A slot is provided in the seat structure through which the other end of the crotch strap passes, and means are provided on the underside of the shield of adjustably retaining the other ends of the shoulder straps and for providing a releasable latching means for securing the other end of the crotch strap to said underside of said shield. A spring may be mounted between the frame and the U-shaped member so as to bias the member in the position above the occupant.
