    • A pumpable cement grout and method for use thereof for grouting annular cavities. The pumpable cement grout is a mixture of a hydraulic cement, water in an amount sufficient so that the water-to-cement ratio of the grout is from about 0.60 to about 1.00 by weight, and pregenerated aqueous foam in an amount sufficient to adjust the wet density of the grout to a value of from about 48 to about 72 pounds per cubic foot. The grout is pumped into an annular cavity formed intermediate a tubular external member and an internal member disposed in the tubular external member, so that the grout fills this cavity by flowing in a generally longitudinal direction therethrough. The tubular external member may be a concrete sewer pipe, and the internal member may be a plastic liner pipe. The pressure at which the grout is injected into the annular cavity is maintained at or below a predetermined maximum pressure, so as to avoid collapsing the plastic liner pipe.

    • A data recorder includes a unitary housing such as comprised of a molded plastic having an open upper portion, a removable lower cover, and a data card receiving arrangement at one end thereof. The data card receiving arrangement includes a narrow slot of precisely fixed dimensions for preventing the insertion of more than one data card at a time. Disposed within the housing are various flat template members arranged in a layered array, with each template having a plurality of spaced apertures therein. Upon full insertion of a data card in the data recorder, the leading edge of the card urges a forward-biased mask member to the full aft position for aligning the apertures of the various layered members allowing the tip of a stylus to be inserted through aligned apertures in the mask and template members to permit severing of chips or punch portions from the data card, which may be either scored or unscored. The recorder includes a seal/lock arrangement and means for removing a hung-up card without disassembling the recorder. Several telescoping stylus designs are contemplated, one employing a trigger mechanism which activates a pointed, inner telescoping member when a predetermined force is manually applied to the stylus, causing the inner member to pierce the data card and remove a chip therefrom in a manner which provides an aural and tactile indication to the user that the data card has been punched.

    • A method for the production of bitumen from a subterranean reservoir having a zone of increased effective permeability therein. In particular, a first well is in fluid communication with the zone of increased effective permeability at a first level in the reservoir. Fluid communication is established between a second well and the zone of increased effective permeability at a second level above the first level in the reservoir. In-situ combustion is initiated in the reservoir proximate the second well. Combustion sustaining fluid is injected through the second well into the zone of increased effective permeability so that bitumens in the reservoir are mobilized by the in-situ combustion and flow downward through the reservoir towards the first well, through which they are recovered. By using this method, a stable in-situ combustion process is established which avoids fingering and channelling and accompanying early oxygen breakthrough, consequently improving the efficiency of bitumen production from the reservoir.
