摘要： An ink jet head cartridge includes an ink jet head unit having an ink passage in which an energy generating element for generating energy used to discharge ink is disposed, and an ink tank adapted to store the ink to be fed to the ink passage and having a vent opening for permitting the interior of the ink tank to communicate with the atmosphere and being formed integrally with the ink jet head unit. In the ink jet cartridge an area where an ink absorber is disposed, and an air area at least a part of which is defined by a tubular member and which is filled with air, are formed in an internal space of the ink tank, and a porous member is disposed in an air passage extending from the air area to the vent opening. An ink tank can be incorporated into the above-mentioned ink jet head cartridge, and an ink jet recording apparatus utilizing the above-mentioned ink jet head cartridge can be provided.

摘要： Feeding a recording medium through a printer for printing images on the recording medium by actuating a line feeding motor in predetermined stepped increments, feeding the recording medium through the printer by a line feeding device driven by the line feeding motor, printing a image on the recording medium by a print head scanning across the recording medium and ejecting ink from nozzles, the print head having j nozzles spaced at a predetermined pixel resolution that is less than a pixel resolution printed by the printer, j being an integer number, controlling the actuating step to actuate the line feed motor in stepped increments, and controlling the j nozzles utilized in printing the image. For each stepped increment of the line feed motor, the line feeding device feeds the recording medium (m×1/n) pixels of the print head pixel resolution, where m and n are integer numbers and m is greater than n. The j nozzles that print in any one scan of the print head are controlled based on the number of increments of the line feed motor. Additionally, a print driver calculates a line skip amount and a buffer offset amount, and adjusts a starting position for storing of the image data in a print buffer in a case where a first line of image data to be stored in the print buffer is white data.

Low resolution print data is transferred from the host computer to the printer and expanded into high resolution print data in the printer, such as by using a predetermined pixel pattern or a pattern key. The pixel pattern is changed in each of the plurality of printing scans, such as by changing the scanning frequency, to eject additional ink droplets per pixel. An image process, such as an output correction process, is performed by the host computer to determine the pixel pattern and pattern key information for printing a high resolution image. Also, power required to be supplied to the print head is reduced by changing the pixel pattern.
