摘要： A plastic closure embodying the principles of the present invention comprises a closure cap having a top wall portion, and an annular skirt portion depending from the top wall portion. The skirt portion includes an internal thread formation for threaded engagement with the external thread formation of an associated container. In order to facilitate high-speed application, and minimize the use of polymeric material, the closure is configured to exhibit a variation in retention force which decreases in a direction away from the top wall portion of the closure cap.

The closure assembly includes a closure shell having an annular mounting collar, and an axially moveable tip positioned on the mounting collar for axial movement between opened and closed positions. Notably, the closure assembly includes an arrangement of venting projections, preferably provided on the closure shell, which provide pre-venting of gas pressure from within the container upon initial opening movement of the moveable tip. Foaming, splashing, or other undesirable discharge of liquid from within the container upon initial opening is desirably abated.

摘要： A tamper-indicating plastic closure, and tamper-evident package includes a closure wherein the closure includes a pilfer band having a substantially continuous tamper-ring. The tamper-ring extends generally angularly upwardly and inwardly of the closure in a tamper-indicating orientation of the tamper-ring for engagement with a relatively enlarged annular locking ring of the associated container. The tamper-ring includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections, which comprise relatively thick regions or shoulders, which act to limit lateral movement of the pilfer band with respect to the container by engagement of at least one shoulder with the associated container generally beneath the container locking ring.

摘要： A system and method to form a transportable package is disclosed. The method includes placing a frame on a suitable base and placing a collapsible bag inside the frame, wherein an open top portion of the collapsible bag is draped over an open top of the frame to support the collapsible bag in an open position. The collapsible bag is then filled with flowable particulate matter and a vacuum is drawn in the interior of the collapsible bag. While the vacuum is being applied, the frame is removed and the collapsible bag is spirally wrapped with a reinforcing material. The open top portion of the collapsible bag is then preferably sealed to form the transportable package.

The interior surface of the skirt portion, below the closure thread, defines an array of alternating grooves and lands, which together define a plurality of circumferentially spaced, vertically extending strengthening ribs on the inside surface of the skirt portion. The skirt portion thus exhibits desirably enhanced column strength, thereby facilitating efficient formation by “stripping” from an associated core pin during molding. In the preferred form, the exterior surface of the skirt portion is provided with a plurality of circumferentially spaced gripping knurls respectively aligned with the grooves defined at the interior surface of the skirt portion.
