    • A method and system are provided for on demand selective rerouting of logical circuit data. Upon a failed logical circuit being identified in the data network, one or more alternative logical failover circuits for rerouting data from the identified failed logical circuit is displayed in a menu on a display device. A selection of a logical failover circuit is made using a graphical user interface (GUI). Once the selection of the logical failover circuit is received, the data from the failed logical circuit is rerouted to the selected logical failover circuit. Upon receiving the selection of the logical failover circuit, a determination may be made as to whether a utilization percentage indicate of congestion in the selected logical failover circuit exceeds a predetermined threshold. If the utilization rate exceeds the threshold, then an alert is generated and the selection of an alternative logical failover circuit from the menu is requested.

    • A method and system are provided for rehoming a digital subscriber line access multiplexer between a first data switch and a second data switch or ports on a single data switch. An extension permanent virtual circuit is established between the first data switch and the second data switch and a physical loop-back circuit is established at the second data switch for routing data from an output port of the second data switch to a temporary input port. A permanent virtual circuit between a data switch servicing a network service provider and the first data switch is removed, and a permanent virtual circuit between the data switch servicing the network service provider and the second data switch is established. Data is then routed between the network service provider and the digital subscriber line access multiplexer via the permanent virtual circuit between the data switch servicing the network service provider and the second data switch, the physical loop-back circuit, and the extension permanent virtual circuit.

    • Embodiments are provided for automatically setting an alert mode on a wireless device. Scheduling data is received which defines a predetermined period utilized to set the alert mode. The scheduling data may be received either by direct input in the wireless device or alternatively from an external edge device, such as a network server, in a communications network. In response to receiving the scheduling data, an alert mode on the wireless device is automatically set for the predetermined period. The alert mode may include a silent alert mode on the wireless device. The wireless device may include a sensor for receiving data indicative of a current external state. The sensor data may include location data, temperature data, and ambient noise data. The received sensor data may be utilized to automatically trigger the setting of an alert mode in the wireless device.
