    • The disclosure relates to a method for charging an intermediate circuit capacitor in an electric drive unit comprising an electric motor. The intermediate circuit capacitor is charged by an intermediate circuit current that is supplied by a battery. The output voltage of the battery is settable to one or more voltage values. A target value of the intermediate circuit current is determined, and an actual value of the intermediate circuit current is ascertained. The actual value of the intermediate circuit current is then compared with the target value of the intermediate circuit current. An optimal output voltage of the battery is determined on the basis of the comparison of the actual value of the intermediate circuit current with the target value of the intermediate circuit current. Then, the optimal output voltage of the battery is set.

    • A method is provided for determining a phase current direction and a zero-crossing moment of the phase current in a sinusoidally controlled brushless direct current motor. The brushless direct current motor comprises a coil per phase and the phase of the brushless direct current motor is driven by a half bridge driver. The half bridge driver comprises a high side field effect transistor and a low side field effect transistor. The method comprising the following steps: measuring the drain source voltage over the high side field effect transistor and low side field effect transistor, and determining the zero crossing moment of the phase current by determining the current direction based on the measured drain source voltages and by determining the moment the current changes direction.

    • A power tool according to one aspect of one embodiment described in the disclosure includes a brushless motor, a battery voltage detection unit configured to detect a voltage of a battery that provides energy for driving the brushless motor, a rotational position detection unit configured to detect a rotational position of the brushless motor, and a control unit configured to control a drive output supplied to the brushless motor based at least in part on a signal from the rotational position detection unit. The control unit controls a current conduction angle and/or an advance angle supplied to the brushless motor so that, during control of the drive output to the brushless motor, a rotational speed or a conducting current of the brushless motor approaches or reaches a target value, the target value being based at least in part on a battery voltage detected by the battery voltage detection unit.
