    • An improved arrangement of locking apparatus for securing the fulcrum ring of a clutch in adjusted position includes a rotatable cam operable from a readily accessible location for forcing a locking bar radially into engagement with a slotted fulcrum ring; a wedge shaped nose on the locking bar is preferred for taking up clearance between the bar and slot in order to eliminate hammering or chucking; the nose of the locking bar may have compound inclination for exerting wedging action both radially and parallel to the axis; the wedging and securing of the locking bar is facilitated by the provision of coaxial hexagonal drive lugs adapted for engagement by wrenches. In addition, an improved interlocking drive connection is provided between the finger of a belleville spring and a release sleeve assuring that the sleeve rotates with the spring.

    • A clutch in which there is provided a clutch disc having clutch facings made of cerametallic or like material, a flywheel having a friction surface to be brought into frictional contact with one of the facings, and a pressure plate supported by a clutch cover for conjoint rotation with the flywheel and urged in a direction to press the facing against the flywheel, with the pressure plate having a friction surface to be brought into frictional contact with the other facing. Segments made of heat-treated hard steel plate are fixed to each of the flywheel and the pressure plate to provide the friction surface thereof.

    • An improved dry-disc friction clutch for motor vehicle power transmission systems is disclosed, which is adapted to be disengaged completely and immediately when a forward drive condition is to be established from idling. The friction clutch includes a flywheel which is made up of cooperating main and subsidiary driving plates which are normally spaced from each other by suitable spring means. The subsidiary driving plate is positively moved away from the friction-engaging plate when the clutch pedal is depressed and the clutch spring is moved to disengage the pressure plate from the friction-engaging plate.
