    • An outer envelope trochoidal device is provided. The device includes a rotor shaft and rotor assembly, the rotor assembly having a peripheral surface that defines a trochoidal curve and includes a first and a second rotor half. Each rotor half has a trochoidal profile surface and an inner circular surface. The rotor shaft includes secured thereto a cylindrical sleeve that includes a radial flange to which at least one of the rotor halves is secured. The rotor halves are secured to each other by counterbolt means extending laterally through the rotor halves. One rotor half can include a tapped hole in the outer peripheral surface of the rotor and a channel extending from the end of the tapped hole to the sleeve on the rotor shaft. A chamber is defined by a portion of the sleeve and a portion of the rotor half pinned to the sleeve, the chamber being in fluid communication with the channel. When a fluid under pressure is injected into the channel and thereby the volume through the tap hole, the rotor halves are caused to separate and disengage the rotor shaft.

In one aspect of the invention, it is recognized that flow turbulence, pressure pulses and noise is caused by a slight net increase in the volume of a contracting fluid chamber (57) during cam fall, and that this increase is caused by radially inward movement of the roller vane during cam fall. In another aspect of the invention, the discharge port (59) is located such that fluid communication between the contracting fluid chamber and the discharge port does not occur until after the net increase in the volume of the contracting fluid chamber has ceased, and a net decrease in the volume of the chamber has begun.

    • The invention relates to a fluid pressure operated motor or pump of the type having a gerotor displacement mechanism which normally includes inner and outer wheel and ring gears which in operation have relative rotational and orbital movement therebetween. Such devices inherently have a form of valving wherein, with a commutating type of action, fluid is directed from the casing inlet to expanding chambers of the gerotor and directed from collapsing gerotor chambers to the casing outlet. Two embodiments are presented in which the first has the casing thereof fixed in space. In both units the commutator valving includes valving patterns in two valve plates attached to opposite sides of the casing and in the wheel gear which has orbital movement relative to the casing. The commutating valving arrangement has control ports on opposite sides of the unit for feeding and exhausting motive fluid to and from the unit and auxiliary ports on opposite sides of the unit to balance or equalize the pressure forces on each side thereof. Bolts are used for fastening the tightening together the casing side plates. These bolts are also used as guides for the orbital path of the ring gear and holes are provided in the ring gear to accommodate the bolts.
