摘要： An ironing machine for automatically ironing garments or other articles which are conveyed through the machine on hangers. The machine comprises an ironing zone to receive an article to be ironed and a heat applying means for applying heat to an article received at the ironing zone. The heat applying means is mounted on a shuttle which is movable relative to the ironing zone for traversing that zone. The heat applying means includes two opposed heat applying surfaces one disposed on each side of the ironing zone for contacting a surface of an article at the ironing zone and conforming to the surface contour thereof while traversing the ironing zone.

摘要： An ironing apparatus has a controlled suction work surface for holding a fabric part thereon. Two guide rails are mounted above the work surface and a slide box is coupled to the guide rails for sliding thereon. A steam iron is adjustably suspended from the slide box for ironing the seam of the fabric part. The guide rails are journaled to a pair of guide rods axially oriented substantially perpendicular thereto. The steam iron is moved along the path of the seam by moving the slide box on the guide rails, and by moving the guide rails on the guide rods.

摘要： A method and apparatus for forming a longitudinal hem along one edge of a fabric using a hot melt adhesive for securement of the hem. The fabric is advanced along a predetermined path of travel while one longitudinal edge portion of the fabric is directed through an elongate heating chamber and heated to an elevated temperature. The heated edge portion of the fabric then passes through a folding station and the fabric is folded to form a hem. A stream of molten hot melt adhesive is deposited between the overlying fabric layers which define the longitudinal hem and pressure is applied to the hem to cause the molten adhesive to spread and penetrate into the fabric layers and to also prevent relative movement between the fabric layers until the adhesive has sufficiently cooled to secure the hem together.

摘要： A drum-type ironer unit normally operative to iron laundry at a given speed of movement of the laundry therethrough is combined most advantageously with a chest-type ironer unit normally operative to iron laundry at a much higher speed. The two ironer units are mounted in tandem so the laundry discharged by the drum-type ironer unit is automatically fed to the inlet of the chest-type ironer unit. Both ironer units are operated at the much higher linear speed for which the chest-type ironer unit is designed to operate. The laundry normally fed to the drum-type ironer unit in a dried condition is fed thereto in an undried condition.
